ARTS & VENUES: A SOCIAL-CULTURAL ENTERPRISE A social enterprise uses commerce as a tool to maximize impact and long-term viability for the social good. The successful business model behind a cultural enterprise results in greater impact and reach on arts and culture. Denver Arts & Venues is a social-cultural enterprise, operating a business model that raises revenue through operation of Denver’s iconic venues and then spending that revenue on venue maintenance, arts programs, planning and free cultural amenities for Denver’s residents. You Are Here and Urban Arts Fund, Next Stage NOW REVENUE THROUGH VENUES Denver is home to some of the country’s best venues for concerts, theater, events and film. The City of Denver owns and operates several of them, including the iconic Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, and the country’s largest performing arts center under one roof, the Denver Performing Arts Complex. The city also owns the historic Denver Coliseum, the recently refurbished McNichols Civic Center Building and the state-of-the art Colorado Convention Center. COLORADO CONVENTION CENTER Built in 1990, the Colorado Convention Center is one of the most sustainable venues in North America, and houses the 5,000 seat Bellco Theatre. The CCC is a state-of-the-art LEED certified facility with flexible theatre, ballrooms, meeting rooms, exhibit space and multiple lobbies for a variety of special events that attract over 1 million visitors annually. DENVER COLISEUM Dating back to 1952, the Denver Coliseum is home to the National Western Stock Show and hosts a multitude of other events including concerts, ice skating events, truck and auto shows, cheerleading competitions, Native American pow-wows and more. DENVER PERFORMING ARTS COMPLEX The Denver Performing Arts Complex is the largest performing arts center under one roof in the country and draws over 1 million patrons annually. The Arts Complex houses ten performance spaces on its four-block, 12-acre site and is home to four signature resident companies: Colorado Ballet, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Opera Colorado and the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. MCNICHOLS CIVIC CENTER BUILDING The McNichols Civic Center Building is the former Carnegie Library and re-opened in 2012 as a contemporary hub for arts and culture. This stunning Greek Revival building hosts public events, parties, music and dance performances, weddings, receptions, private events and more. RED ROCKS AMPHITHEATRE Red Rocks is one of the most popular concert venues in the world, drawing over 1.3 million fans annually. It is recognized for its star-studded concert roster, natural acoustics and ambiance.
