Suitable List For Allergy Lists Dear Customer, In developing our products, we always avoid the use of allergenic ingredients wherever possible. Wherever we can, we provide choice within our ranges for customers who wish to avoid particular ingredients (e.g. specific gluten free products). To help with this, we provide comprehensive and clear on-pack information indicating the presence of the common allergens. This information appears in both the ingredients list (e.g. Soya lecithin, lactose (from cows’ milk)), and the Contains box : Any product containing peanuts or other kinds of nut (or nut oil), carries the nut warning logo next to the ingredients list. Where products themselves are potential allergens and the presence of the allergen is clear from the product description, for example; milk, mustard sauce, peanut butter, pre-packed celery, we do not include a contains box as our customers have told us that this information is not valuable to them. Comprehensive and regularly updated lists of products that are prepared to recipes that exclude allergens are available from our stores, on-line and via our Customer Service team (0845 302 1234). The following standard lists are available; Egg Milk and Lactose Gluten Nut Soya Added Yeast and Yeast Extract Sesame For customers with more complex requirements, our Customer Services team can provide specific individual reports. This product has been made in a factory that uses nut ingredients. This product has been made in a factory that uses sesame ingredients. • Helping Children Over 1 Year Make the Most of What They Eat December
Helping children (over 1 year) make the most of what they eat Information for parents & carers Name ______________________________ Your Dietitian ________________________ Date Dietitian contact number: 0118 322 7116 If your child cannot manage to eat enough food or has higher energy needs, they may need to eat differently to make sure they are getting everything they need to grow. Five tips that can help 1. Offering a combination of foods from each food group will help to give your child all the nutrients they need. Try to encourage a variety of foods every day, including some from each food group: o Protein foods: Meat, fish, chicken, well-cooked eggs, beans and pulses 2 servings a day. o Milk & dairy foods: Full fat milk, yoghurt & cheese 3 servings a day. o Starchy foods: Bread, cereals, rice, potatoes, pasta, noodles serve with all meals. o Fruit & vegetables: Including fresh, tinned, stewed or frozen varieties. o Foods containing sugar and fat: offer more of these as they are good sources of energy. 2. Offer three small meals and three snacks between meals a day. Sweet snack ideas: (these could also be used as puddings): o Toasted bread fingers with butter and jam, honey (not before the age of 1 year), peanut butter (if not allergic), chocolate spread (if not allergic as may contain nuts). o Biscuits spread with any of the above. o Small sandwiches with any of the above. o Slice of cake/muesli style bar/doughnuts/pastries. o Crumpet/scone or malt loaf with butter. o Milk pudding e.g. custard/rice pudding/crème caramel.
