Indeed, this is an extremely challenging year for all of us and we are well aware of this. We are adapting the organization of the event as best as possible so that this World Rally Championship and life size rehearsal before Dakar is a success. The current health circumstances have forced us to make choices in order to protect the Moroccan people and the competitors by limiting contact and taking special measures. This year, the Rallye will be organized around an XXL bivouac near M’Hamid, south of Zagora. If the nomadic character is assessed under the current circumstances, the Rallye du Maroc remains faithful to its DNA: Be the most accessible international Rally Raid with categories designed for new adventurers, allowing them to progress at their own pace and means, alongside the best pilot and co-pilots in the world. Prepare effectively for the Dakar, whether it is a short-term project or a long-term goal. The Rallye du Maroc benefits from the “Road to Dakar” Label, thus meeting the demanding criteria in terms of safety and sports organization that this implies. Allow factory teams to prepare effectively for the Dakar. So many guarantees of quality for all participants, whatever their level, without sacrificing conviviality and shared experiences. We tend to repeat ourselves by quoting this sentence from Thierry Sabine, but it’s true: “The Rally is a race for amateurs where professionals have their place”. -

A round of the FIA World Cup of TT Rally’s and the FIM World Championship, the Rallye du Maroc is the end of the year rendezvous you can’t miss. The Rallye du Maroc brings together the biggest names in the discipline, the biggest car and bike teams, and is also a unique opportunity to introduce the discipline to both amateurs and neophytes. SSV, Open Car category, and Enduro Cup for bikes, everything is done to en- courage first time participants. In addition, we work to give you maximum pleasure and safety. The pleasure and the adventure the Rally du Maroc brings, does have its hazards, but I commit that above all, you will spend some very pleasant moments whether you are a seasoned competitor or a beginner. Safety, an essential element of rally raids, will be of one our priorities. I will use all my years of experience at Dakar to ensure your safety. Media Information 2013 Dakar Rally – #07 The Atacama shows no mercy: Three-O-One defends third place at the “Dakar” Calama, 10 January 2013 Position defended on one of the most formidable stages: Giniel de Villiers and Dirk von Zitzewitz remain in third place after almost 3,000 of the 8,000 kilometres that form this year’s Dakar Rally. Driving a Toyota Hilux, they trailed stage winners Nasser Al-Attiyah and Lucas Cruz in a buggy by 17m 17s after one of the most challenging legs of the toughest desert rally in the world, which took the competitors through the Atacama Desert. The winners of the 2009 “Dakar” were struck by misfortune in the dunes: de Villiers and von Zitzewitz had no option but to slow down when they came across a rival car that had, unbeknown to them, got stuck behind a crest. They were then forced to spend valuable time using sand ladders, deflating the tyres and shovelling for all their worth in order to free themselves from the situation they suddenly found themselves in. Despite being seen as rank outsiders, “Ginny” and “Schnietz”, as the two friends know each other, now find themselves just 42m 31s behind odds-on favourites Stéphane Peterhansel and Jean-Paul Cottret in the X- raid Mini in the overall classification. This in itself is a success worthy of recognition after a third of the total “Dakar” distance. Friday sees the Dakar Rally cross the border to Argentina via the picturesque Paso de Jama, with its literally breath-taking plateaus at over 4,000 metres above sea level. -

The PEUGEOT 2008 DKR clocks up testing kilometres in France As the countdown to the 2015 Dakar Rally begins to accelerate, the Peugeot- Total squad is continuing to develop the fearsome PEUGEOT 2008 DKR at a frenetic pace with its three star drivers, including Cyril Despres, who is getting to grips with competing on four wheels for the first time. From 7am, Team Peugeot-Total is in action. Like a commando unit on a mission, the mechanics invade the test centre at Château Lastours, where the PEUGEOT 2008 DKR is about to begin a new phase of its development – generating impatience and anticipation in equal measure. Every single minute counts. For the first time, the three crews that constitute Peugeot’s dream team will all take turns behind the wheel. Following shakedown tests at Freneuse, Montlhéry and Creusot elsewhere in France, the beast now has the opportunity to demonstrate its mettle across rocky terrain that offers a foretaste of the kind of adventure that awaits it in South America. Now that Carlos Sainz has drawn upon his experience to identify the inevitable initial teething troubles, his two new team-mates have also come along to help out. Basta con la monocromia della carrozzeria nerofumo che copriva il modello in molte fasi dei test. E’ tempo di “indossare” la livrea da corsa. Con la tuta da battaglia, la bestia è ormai pronta alla sfida con le 4×4 della prossima Dakar. Sono cambiati i Continenti, ma, non solo idealmente, resta uno dei rally- raid più impegnativi del mondo, se non il più Impegnativo.
