KZN AND EDUCATION MEC TO ASSESS SCHOOLS READINESS FOR REOPENING ON MONDAY NEXT WEEK

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala will tomorrow, Thursday, 28 May 2020, visit schools in Ndwedwe, North of Durban, to assess their readiness for the reopening of schools on Monday next week.

The Premier, who will be accompanied by Provincial Education MEC , will visit Sisebenzile High, Lihlithemba High and Ubuhlebemfundo Primary Schools in Ndwedwe to assess their readiness.

In KZN, the Provincial Command Council, postponed the reporting date for teachers and school management teams in order to ensure compliance with all the non-negotiables agreed between the Minister of Basic Education and Education stakeholders. This included ensuring that all schools are cleaned and PPEs had been delivered to all schools.

Tomorrow will be the first date for the return of teachers close to 91 by000 and school management teams. KZN is the Province with the largest education system compared to any province in the country. It has the highest number of Matriculants, Grade 7s, teachers and school management teams.
