OTHING is more difficult to make than ~ perfect pair of shears or scissors. By perfect, we mean shears and scissors which have the following requirements:

High Grade Material.

WELDING Perfect Temper. True Cutting Edges which will last indefinitely.

All shears may look alike to you. Even at the first glance an expert is sometimes unable to tell the quality. But time will surely show the differ­ ence between a poor shear and a Wiss. Did you ever use a pair of shears and have them chew the cloth in­ stead of cutting it clean, or have the blades grind as you open and shut HARDENING them until the edges of that shear were like a ? That shear was not perfectly tempered or the adj ust­ ment of it was poor and it will never work satisfactorily.

\!\!iss shears are all tempered per­ fectly by our exclusive process. This is one of our most valuable secrets, as it insures an edge that is always sharp.

Good Workmanship. Shears and scissors must be made by hand, their perfect adjustment GRINDING depending entirely upon the skill of the workman. Each Wiss shear and scissors is handled nearly 500 times in the fac­ tory before it is fi nished, and to make a first-class shear each of the 500 operations must be conscien­ tiously performed and absolutely ac­ curate. The Wiss process of making shears is recognized as the very best, especially when applied to shears which are used for heavy work, such as cutting cloth and fabrics of all ----· kinds. THE WISS SIMPLEX SHEAR BOLT.

All the objections and annoyances of the old style bolt clone away with. N o springs, no levers or other parts to be lost or become out of order. The shear can be easily taken apart and the lint and dirt that in­ variably collects under a shear bolt removed, overcoming the annoyance of having shear blades hard to open and close. The bolt, when taken out of the shear, consists of only two p1eces and can only be replaced correctly. The operator can quicklv adjust the shear to work looser or tighter by the use of an ordinary small screw-driver and a slight turn of the nut. The bolt is so simple and practical in construction that it at once receives the endorsem ent of all mechanics and tailors who see it.
