He and his pairs partner Cameron McAlpine (Lincoln Graduate '09) row for Rose City Rowing Club, a private club in Portland that features athletes from all over the Portland metro area. They competed against 16 other crews from around the country over a 3 day period in the Men's Youth Pair category. They won their heat, semi- final, and final all with nice margins. Michael and Cameron took a boat-length lead in the first 500 meters and held on to win. "What is particularly impressive about this pair, is that they only started rowing this boat together in the past two months, after predominantly rowing larger boats with 8 rowers," adds Renee Pirkl Botero, Wilson parent.
