The New York Virtuoso Singers Presents Third Concert of 25th Anniversary Season at Kaufman Music Center’s Merkin Concert Hall Featuring World Premieres of 13 Works by Major American Composers Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 3 pm Pre-concert discussion with the composers at 2:15 pm
The 25th anniversary season of the New York Virtuoso Singers at Merkin Concert Hall, (129 West 67th St. btw Broadway and Amsterdam in Manhattan) continues on March 3 at Kaufman Music Center’s Merkin Concert Hall with commissioned works by 13 major American composers: Richard Wernick, Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, Aaron Jay Kernis, David Lang, Mark Adamo, Richard Danielpour, Augusta Read Thomas, Thea Musgrave, Joseph Schwantner, William Bolcom, Roger Davidson, David Felder and Joan Tower.
In celebration of their 25th anniversary, The New York Virtuoso Singers commissioned 25 of American’s most important composers to write new choral works. On October 21, 2012, the group premiered works by Jennifer Higdon, George Tsontakis, John Corigliano, David Del Tredici, Shulamit Ran, John Harbison, Steven Stucky, Stephen Hartke, Fred Lerdahl, Chen Yi, Bruce Adolphe and Yehudi Wyner. They will conclude the season with 13 premieres on March 3, 2013.
