Pastor’s Column January 12, 2019 My friends in Christ: An Invitation to Married Couples On Saturday, February 8th, we will have a special Valentine’s Mass again for married couples at the 4:30 pm Vigil Mass. I will invite all our married couples to renew their marriage vows after the homily. I will pray over these couples asking Our Lord to bless them and rekindle in them the love and grace that was bestowed on them the day they entered the Sacrament of Matrimony.
After the Vigil Mass, there will be a reception for the married couples, with hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, wine, beer, and soft drinks. Each wife will receive a rose, also. My intention is to honor and celebrate the sacredness of the Sacrament of Matrimony and make this night very special for our married couples. This is the 5th year that we have had this celebration, and it has been so well received. Reserve this date on your calendar, whether you were recently married or are celebrating your 50th wedding anniversary. This will be your special night out. If you are celebrating a milestone marriage anniversary of 25, 50, or more years, please let me know by calling the rectory at 215-822-0179.
The Capstone for the Expansion of our Church Narthex You may have noticed that we have a beautiful new bronze-like sculpture of our Parish Patron, St. Jude Thaddaeus, that was mounted over the new entrance to the Church just before Christmas. This is the Capstone for the expansion of our Church Narthex. What you may not know is that this stunning work of art was designed and created by Mr. Joe DeVito – a long-time parishioner and notable commercial artist.
I want to thank Joe for fashioning this impressive representation of our patron saint that will forever define the gateway to our beautiful Church Narthex. St. Jude will again sponsor a bus trip to the March for Life on Fri- day, January 24th. We have 20 spots available at a cost of $20 per person. Because of time constrictions, we ask that participants from St. Jude come to St Roberts parking lot for pick up.
