BOOKING FOR CHURCH From Sunday 25th July it will not be necessary to book to come to church but please be aware Covid restrictions are still in place. If church becomes full it will not be possible to let you come in as regrettably we wouldn’t be able fit everyone in safely.

WEDNESDAY COMMUNION Wednesday morning communion has started up again.

CONNOR Hi Folks I know the hols are just starting and you are probably all off but needed to give you some news about Connor: In September 2018 Connor joined us as part of the Changing Places Project in the Diocese. He works at St Catherine’s school during the week and has been placed here as our Youth Worker. He has worked incredibly hard to pick things up for our new youth group WAVES. Even through COVID they’ve had get togethers on zoom and he’s been getting alongside the new leaders inspiring both them and our young people along the way. Connor has worked closely with our FISH leaders and has encouraged them too. In fact, through that encouragement, they organised the FISH Inside Out Party which happened on 18 July 2021. At Easter he worked with WAVES to organise the Easter Egg deliveries to people in our parish and has been seen preaching on a Sunday both in person and on our website. He has joined the PCC and has been a valuable person to have on board as part of the team. Sadly his time with us finishes at the end of August. We will miss him very much and feel we should show our gratitude by having a collection for him.

If you would like to donate you can do so online directly into the church’s account: Sort code 089299 account 65889318, stating its for Connor or pop it through the Vicarage letter box, before Friday 20 August 2021. We are hoping he will be with us on 22 August at the 10.30am service where we can show our appreciation of his ministry.

The good news is that he will be replaced, hopefully by September and that person will be with us three years too.

Please pray for Connor as he moves to pastures new.

God bless Wendy

The GRUB TUB will be in the porch at the Vicarage and donations may be left there without having to have contact with anyone!

Also ORANGE ENVELOPES or collection for the plate may be put through the Vicarage letterbox. If you are not able to do this and you do online banking you could make payments to the church either weekly or monthly whichever is best for you or you could set up a standing order to pay your monthly giving. For either transaction the details are: Account number – 65889318

Sort code – 08-92-99 Account name – Christ’s Church PCC

ALSO IF YOU SHOP ONLINE - you can also help to raise funds for our church by logging on to easyfundraising.org where you can register to support Christ’s Church Harwood. For more information see our Facebook page. We do appreciate these are strange times and things we take as the ‘norm’ aren’t any more, so we are trying to make things easier for you especially if you are worrying that you can’t get things to us. Just remember we want you to keep safe.

ECO CHURCH NEWS

Help save the planet.

We can now help save our planet by collecting EMPTY medication blister packs (NOT ANY TIN FOIL PRODUCTS) and plastic milk bottle tops. Please save these and drop them into the bags at the back of church when you are in or give them to someone else who attends. Thanks for your help.

There is a miniature toilet at the back of Church. It is there because we are hoping to TWIN our church toilet. This means donating £60 for a toilet in an area of the world where there is no safe toilet sanitation. This will provide a clean safe latrine and educate the local people about hygiene and so improve their health. It will save lives. We are hoping for a £1 donation from individuals or families. This can be placed in the toilet at the back. We had a fantastic response last week and have enough to buy ½ a toilet!! If we raise enough, we will be able to twin the church toilet and the church lounge toilet, AND it’s an Eco project!

We hope you will agree this is a good project to support.

A huge thank you to Steve James for the tremendous toilet he has made.

The Eco Church Team.

CAN YOU HELP?? Our church doesn’t just run itself and we rely very heavily on volunteers fulfilling the many tasks to keep everything ticking over. If you feel you could give an hour of your time please see below where we need help. Thursday Morning Gardening Team – just turn up between 9am and 12noon or for more information ring Dave Wood on 07456 277771. Church Cleaning - if you feel you could help us out on the church cleaning rota, which will be about once a month, please contact Liz Williams 381201. Help with Paperwork for Church – This would be at the Vicarage every Thursday for an hour or so, folding service sheets/noticesheets for Sunday, packing envelopes with the Weekly Devotional ready for mailing to our congregation not online, and generally helping Rosie. Please contact her on 525196 or [email protected] Hopefully if we get several people it will be on a rota basis. Audio Visual Team – we are looking for help on a Sunday morning to operate 1) the sound desk 2) the laptop, when it is needed in church, both on a rota basis. As we are hoping to live stream our services we would also like to hear from anyone interested in being involved in this exciting new venture! If you would like to be involved please contact [email protected]. Full training will be given in all areas. Churchyard Clean Up - Saturday 7th August and every 1st Saturday of the month we will be meeting in the churchyard from 9am to have a churchyard clean up morning. If you feel you would like to join us either on your own or as a family you will be very welcome. For more information please contact Dave Wood on 07456 277771.

CARDS FOR SALE Although the group has been unable to meet during the last few months - for obvious reasons - they have still been working away in their own homes making the beautiful cards we used to see displayed in our church and Church Lounge. All the money they have raised from the sale of these cards (a snip at £1 each) has been donated to church but unfortunately this isn’t possible at the moment. With this in mind and taking into consideration Covid restrictions and safety, Dave and Sue are quite happy to bring these cards to you, in a socially distanced situation, making sure that the boxes of cards have been left untouched for the appropriate time. In the short time they have been doing this they have raised £200 towards the ‘Spire Fund’. If you are interested in looking at the cards in your own home please contact Dave and Sue on 07456 277771.

Please send notices to [email protected] by WEDNESDAY morning. Thank you.

BOLTON COMMUNITY ALLIANCE

Dear All,

Over the Summer, Bolton Unity Alliance are organising a series of ‘Community Walks’ at various locations in the Bolton area aimed at bringing together people from different backgrounds in the Bolton community. The walks will take place on Thursday afternoons at 2pm starting next Thursday, 22nd July, at Queen’s Park. Each of the walks will be fairly gentle (although some include quite steep inclines and slightly rough terrain), on good footpaths, approximately 3 miles in length, and taking about 1½ hours to complete. (please see the dates and locations of the walks in the table below this message). If you, or someone in your congregation/group/community would like to participate in these walks please email Keith Armstrong at [email protected] and I’ll send you further details of the walks including meeting times etc. (Please note numbers are limited and places will be given on a first come first served basis).

Best regards, Keith Armstrong

On behalf of the Bolton Unity Alliance (Bolton Christian Community Cohesion, Bolton Hindu Forum, Bolton Wanderers Community Trust, Bolton Solidarity Community Association, Bolton Council of Mosques, Bolton Interfaith Council).
