TRAVEL INFORMATION

The Department of Clinical Veterinary Science is situated in the village of Lower Langford which is about 15 miles south‐west of Bristol. The main switchboard number is 0117 928 9690 and the telephone number of the Continuing Education Unit is 0117 928 9502.

BY AIR There are national and international flights to Bristol Airport (Lulsgate) which is about 5 miles from Langford. The remainder of the journey is by taxi (Checker Cars 01275 475000, GNS Taxis 01934 744744, A&S Private Hire 01934 843037). Flying is the most convenient way of getting to Bristol. From London (Heathrow) Airport, there are connecting rail services via London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads railway station.

BY RAIL Frequent trains from London, Swindon, Cardiff, Birmingham, Bath, Exeter and the North run throughout the week to Bristol Temple Meads station. From Bristol Temple Meads you then need to catch a train to (20 mins). Yatton is the nearest railway station, about 4 miles from Langford. From Yatton you will need to order a Taxi to take you to the Langford conference venue (5 mins) or Hotel (10/15 mins), which it is advisable to book in advance (bbs Taxis 07770 837560, CPM Taxis 01934 835119, Streets Ahead 07944 859974). A few Intercity services stop at Yatton, but it is usually necessary to change at Bristol Temple Meads to connect with the local service. There is no local service from Bristol Parkway. BY ROAD From the M5 motorway, leave at Junction 21, taking the A370 signposted to Bristol. Turn right at the first set of traffic lights (in ) and follow the road signposted to Cheddar and Churchill (B3133). The entrance to the Veterinary School is about 3 miles on the left. This is preferable to attempting to travel through Bristol to Langford, unless you already know the route, as the signposts are confusing. Visitors travelling from the south‐west can leave the M5 at Junction 22 to join the A38 northbound. The Veterinary School is about 1 mile after the traffic lights at Churchill (where the A38 crosses the A36). About 1/2 mile after the traffic lights at Churchill, turn left just onto the road signed to Clevedon B3133. At the mini roundabout turn left onto the B3133. The entrance to the Veterinary School is about 200 metres on the right.

Bus and coach services operate from the Bristol Bus and Coach Station, Marlborough Street, Bristol. But the local service between Bristol and Langford is very limited and the journey takes about 1 hour.
