Bolton Turnditch CE Primary School Teacher Job Description Post: 0.5 FTE (currently 2.5 days) Grade: Main Pay Scale Commencement Date: 4th January 2021 Responsible to: Headteacher This post requires teaching to all children in the age range (3-7/4-11 years) but with classroom responsibilities in the first instance for our Y1/2 class. Purpose: To carry out duties of the Teacher in accordance with the Teacher’s Pay and Conditions Document and other relevant statutory provisions. To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for pupils, incorporating the Foundation Stage/National Curriculum requirements, the school’s aims and objectives, and in line with the curriculum policies of the school. To facilitate, support and monitor the overall progress and development of your class. To foster a learning environment and educational experience which provides all pupils with the opportunity to fulfil their full potential. To share in the development of the school curriculum, teaching materials, teaching programmes, methods of teaching and assessment and their review. To support, and actively contribute to, the safeguarding of all children. Generic Responsibilities Assume charge for the teaching of a class of children and make provisions for the needs of all children during on-site and off-site activities Demonstrate very good primary practice, classroom management and organisation. Assess, record and report on the attendance, progress, development and attainment of assigned pupils Ensure a high quality learning experience for pupils, which meets internal and external quality standards Use a variety of delivery methods appropriate to pupils’ learning styles and the varying demands of curriculum areas Provide a positive and safe learning environment Encourage high standards of work, performance and presentation Encourage good attendance and punctuality Safeguard the health and safety of self, pupils and others at all times. Contribute to and enhance curriculum continuity and progression through assessment, record keeping, target setting and discussion with colleagues Set high expectations for pupils’ behaviour and maintain a good standard of discipline through well focused teaching, fostering positive relationships and implementing the schools behaviour policy Partake in pre-school and break times, collective worship and after school duties as required Communicate effectively with parents of pupils and with persons or bodies outside the school who are concerned with the welfare of pupils (following consultation with appropriate staff) Contribute to the personal, social, health, citizenship and enterprise education of pupils according to the school policy Work cooperatively and proactively as part of the school team Contribute to the overall Christian ethos, aims and work of the school Work with the staff team towards the achievement of the school improvement plan targets Play a full part in the life of the school community and support extra-curricular opportunities, as appropriate Follow and actively promote school policies Comply with the health and safety policy Undertake and abide by the school risk assessments as appropriate Undertake duties as the Headteacher may reasonably direct, subject to consultation Actively pursue own personal and professional development The duties may be varied to meet the changing demands of the school at the reasonable direction of the Headteacher.
