2017-2018 Manhattan High School Profile School and Community Manhattan High School is a comprehensive four-year high school in Manhattan, Kansas. Manhattan is located 9 miles north of Interstate 70 and 100 miles west of Kansas City. Manhattan is also home to Kansas State University, which lends a tradition of support for academic and cultural achievement. Freshmen are housed at the East Camus. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors are housed at the West Campus. The two buildings are located approximately one mile apart. Governed by its own Board of Education, Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 Superintendent: serves nine elementary schools (kindergarten through sixth grade), two Dr. Marvin Wade middle schools (seventh and eighth grade), and one high school , enrolling 6,200 students. One local parochial school also graduates Principal: students who advance to Manhattan High School. All Manhattan-Ogden Mr. Greg Hoyt Schools are fully accredited by the Kansas State Department of Education and the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The school day is divided into seven, fifty minute periods. Minimum graduation requirements by year are: English, 4 years; Mathematics, 3 years; World History, 1 year; United States History, 1 year; Government, 1/2 year; other social studies course, 1/2 year; laboratory science, 3 years (1 Biology, 1 Physical Science); health & physical education, 2 years; 1 Fine Art; and 8 elective courses. Explanation of transcripts: One credit represents two semesters of one period per day. Class Rank and Weighted Formula Advanced Placement Examinations Students are officially ranked at the end of each Advanced Placement Exams were taken in May of 2017 semester. Manhattan High School ranks the 98 students earned AP Scholar status student on his/her unweighted and weighted rank.
