On Campus Dining Options On Campus Dining Options The Upper Deck at Gordinier Hall, located adjacent to the Student Memorial Center, is the main dining facility on campus. The Upper Deck is comprised of numerous food stations, each offering a different type of food including char-grilled meats, stir-fry or pasta entrees, homemade casseroles and soups, oven baked pizza, egg and omelet bar, self-serve waffle bar, fresh salad bar, deli and MU Bake Shop dessert choices. The University Grille at Lyle Hall features a soup, salad and bread bar in additional to its a la carte menu with entrees and sandwiches. The University Grille is open Monday through Friday for lunch from 11 am to 1:30 pm. If your party is four or more, please call 871-7596 for reservations. Located on the main floor of the Student Memorial Center, The Galley offers a wide range of food court-style selections. Open daily Monday through Friday for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Selections include: ever-popular Mixing Bowl, cheese steaks, Jump Asian cuisine and chicken tenders. Try our Wood Stone pizza and pasta stations featuring our own freshly made pizza dough and whole wheat pasta. Stop by for a made-to-order deli sandwich or enjoy one of our hot soup selections. At Starbucks, we proudly brew many of your brand favorites and feature fair trade coffee, lattes, mochas, cappuccino, espresso, flavored coffees, specialty cold drinks, and upscale pastries. Starbucks is open Fridays, 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays, Noon to 5 p.m. It is located in the lobby of the McNairy Library and Learning Forum. Saxbys is the newest addition to campus dining options. This café is the second in the nation to exclusively operate under student management. It offers expertly roasted coffee products, all natural smoothies, hand-made sandwiches and made-to-order breakfast. Saxbys is open Fridays, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. It is located on the first floor of Gordinier Hall. Dumhart FROM: CITY MANAGER Community Development Director Meeting Date: Subject: Conceptual Review of a Proposal for the July 19, 2011 Development of a Chase Bank at 5962 La Palma Avenue RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council conceptually approve a proposal for the development of a Chase Bank at 5962 La Palma Avenue and direct staff to draft a Zoning Code Text Amendment and Development Agreement for further consideration. SUMMARY: The City has received a letter from Studley, the real estate brokerage firm representing the property owner at 5962 La Palma Avenue, requesting that the City consider the development of a JP Morgan Chase Bank on their property. The letter is provided as Attachment 1 to this report. The site is located at the southwest corner of Valley View Street and La Palma Avenue and has been vacant for over 10 years. Late last year, the subject parcel was rezoned from Neighborhood Commercial (NC) to Planned Neighborhood Development (PND) land use designation, which prohibits financial institutions and banks. The Broker has stated that they have exhausted attempts to find end users for his client’s property that are consistent with the goals of the new PND Zone and that meet the needs of his client. They have a ground lease offer from Chase to develop a free-standing bank. The financial institution use alone does not meet the requirements in the PND Zoning District to develop the commercial corner with retail uses that are lacking in the community.
