Water, water, everywhere Condensation can accumulate as 'free water' in your fuel tank, even when it's fairly full. Water contamination is the root cause of rust and many other fuel and engine problems. It can also cause misfiring, black smoke, incomplete and inefficient burning, lost fuel economy and eventually clogged filters. Left untreated, poor performance, breakdowns and even engine damage can result. Removing water contamination with Fuel Set will prevent these problems, keep your fuel in tip-top condition and clean through your entire fuel system. Clean engines run smoothly, more efficiently and give better performance. Don't delay...start looking after your fuel today!

One of the reasons that Yarmouth Harbour is such a great place to visit is the beautiful natural environment. Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the Harbour’s tidal waters create an ever- changing background of colour and wildlife. As you arrive at Yarmouth by boat you might not be aware of passing between two of the Solent’s wonderful seagrass meadows. Seagrass is the only flowering plant that lives underwater and it forms large meadows that provide a home for amazing species like pipefish, spider crabs and seahorses and supports important local fisheries for sea bass and cuttlefish.

This year you might also be lucky enough to see a white-tailed eagle catching fish or cuttlefish in the coastal waters thanks to a reintroduction programme led by Forestry England and the Roy Dennis Wildlife Foundation. The project is in its second year and aims to restore this lost species after an absence of 240 years. Photo: HIWWT/Tim Ferrero

Upstream of the main harbour, the estuary is bounded on either side by saltmarshes which change with the seasons and provide sheltered creeks and channels for fish and invertebrates when the tide is in. They provide food, shelter and a place to rest for resident birds like the curlews, oystercatchers and little egrets. The winter then brings visitors such as the brent geese, wigeon and dunlin and in the summer you can watch the sandwich terns and their spectacular dives.

Did you know? The Solent used to support more seagrass than it does now, but through th (Zostera marina) meadows. This outbreak destroyed up to 95% of all known seagrass beds and has now been identified as a slime mould, Labyrinthula zosterae – and meadows have also been

Estuary Wildlife The Western Yar Estuary is a great place for wildlife. Its tidal waters, saltmarsh and mudflats are home to a wide range of plants and animals that are specially adapted to living in the challenging conditions. The estuary’s birds have different adaptations too with a beak length that helps them feed in a certain way. This means that many different birds can feed, nest and shelter in the habitats provided by the estuary. The Western Yar is so important to wildlife that it is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and it is part of the network of Marine Protected Areas that include important sites on both sides of the Solent. Circular Walk A wander around the Western Yar is a great way to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Bouldnor Forest, Mill Copse and Fort Victoria are also close by and are ideal for a pleasant stroll through beautiful woodland. The visiting birds that feed here are building up vital energy supplies for their onward migration and every time we startle them into flight they lose essential reserves and their chances of survival diminish. Please help to protect our wildlife by staying on the footpaths and keeping dogs under control and off the saltmarsh. Estuaries Project Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners is a partner in the Isle of Wight Estuaries Project which promotes the sustainable management of the Island’s estuaries. Activities include projects to help conserve and enhance the area and to raise awareness of estuaries, their valuable habitats and wide range of uses.
