PLEASE CAN WE HAVE VOL 3 THE 80S NOW?By Ivo ShandorAnd by ldquo;nowrdquo; I mean this year, and not in 2022?Fans of ldquo;Running Through Corridorsrdquo; Volume 1 have been waiting six years for this title. There is no explanation in the book from either the publisher or the authors as to the reason for the delay. One author says only ldquo;Sincere apologies it took so long.rdquo; The other author admits ldquo; The marriage chronicled in this volume hasnrsquo;t, sadly, lasted the gestation period of this book.rdquo; From the publisher, there is only silence, presumably the silence of guilt. After all, this video diary was apparently written in its entirety in 2009, so itrsquo;s not like the authors were pulling a Jean Auel on us, claiming they needed to do more research before compiling the next volume.Throughout the book there are updates dated July 2012, June 2016, and September 2016, so it would seem that either 1) the authors held on to this book and were continually revising it until they felt it was ready for publication, or 2) they submitted it to the publisher over six years ago, and on at least three separate occasions the publisher gave them a chance to update the text when they thought it was just about to go to print, only for it to be delayed again and again. The delay is even stranger given that the remit of the assignment (to review every episode of Doctor Who in a positive light in a single calendar year) means this particular volume is the absolute easiest in which to reach that lofty goal. After all, you would be hard pressed to find a fan of the original show who considers the Jon Pertwee or Tom Baker years as anything less than the best years of the original showrsquo;s run. Itrsquo;s the volumes before and after this one that are the real challenges. The previous volume (the 60s) had the obstacle of almost 40% of those episodes being missing from the archives. As for the next volume (the 80s), it means the authors are going to have to try to keep a positive spin on, well, everything after ldquo;Caves of Androzani.rdquo; The ldquo;cliffhangerrdquo; ending to this volume pretty much admits that their most daunting task lies ahead. Please, then, donrsquo;t make us wait any longer!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Dr Who?By Tacitus2The book is an interesting read but I found myself thinking that I was in an alternate universe from the authors and found some of their comments bizarre. So, book in hand, I viewed Dr Who and the Silurians and The Daemons and compared my thoughts with those of the authors. Main thing is they consider The Doctor a real person instead of an actor playing The Doctor who is at the mercy of the script writer and script editor. So when he is brusk with Jo or the Brigadier they fault The Doctor rather than just reading it as how the character was written is the script. And they have some kind of vendetta against the actor Prentis Hancock. Anyway, the old Doctor Who Magazine had a group called The Time Team, which did a much better job of evaluating the program.0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Brilliant! Makes me want to rewatch every story as ...By Reuben HerfindahlBrilliant! Makes me want to rewatch every story as it moves through the 70's.

Foreword by Louise Jameson! In Running Through Corridors, two Doctor Who lovers of old - Robert Shearman and Toby Hadoke - embark on an epic quest of friendship: spend the gap year of 2009 (when Doctor Who consisted of a handful of specials rather than a full season) re-watching the whole of Who two episodes a day, every day, from the show's start in 1963 and ending with 's swan song on New Year's, 2010. This series contains Shearman and Hadoke's diary of that experience - a grand opus of their wry observations about the show, their desire to see the good in every story, and their chronicle of the real-life changes to Who in that year. With this book, Who fans will feel that they're watching along with Shearman (World Fantasy Award winner, Hugo Award nominee and writer on the new Doctor Who) and Hadoke (renowned stage performer for his one-man comedy show, Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf) as they make their grand journey through the world's most wonderful and longest-running drama series. Volume 2 of Running Through Corridors encompasses the whole of the Jon Pertwee Era (1970-1974) and the first six seasons starring Tom Baker (1975-1979).
