RACING REVIEW EBN: MONDAY, 19TH OCTOBER 2020 the home straight Noble Heidi took a while to hit top speed as Novemba ran on strongly. Switching to the outer of the latter in the closing stages, she just held off the long-time leader for a three-quarter length victory. Novemba ran a solid performance in defeat when trying to make all and certainly also looks to have a bright future ahead. Listed runner-up Amazing Grace (Protectionist) finished third a further one and three-quarter lengths in arrears. DON’T BE Bred by Marc Bridoux and Haras de l’Hotellerie, Noble Heidi is the second foal out of an Orpen half-sister to the German Gr.3 LEFT OUT IN winner Turning Light (), dam of the Listed winner and triple Gr.3-placed Surrey Star. ITALY Time is running out to register your 2020 filly foals. ELISA AGAIN GAINS GROUP GLORY The Gr.3 Premio Verziere – Memorial Aldo Cirla turned into a Deadline: 31st October 2020. strong battle between the French raider Amica Nostra No late entries. (Epaulette) and the Italian Elisa Again (Champs Elysees). The French filly looked like the winner entering in the last furlong, but the 2000m trip on a heavy ground is a true test of stamina and Elisa Again outstayed her rival to score by a nose. Elisa Again, second in this race in 2019 and third in the Gr.2 Premio Lydia Tesio, relished the going conditions and confirmed her form here. She could go to the Gr.2 Premio Lydia Tesio and increase her paddock value further, while Amica Nostra has the Gr.3 Prix Fille de l’Air as a likely target. Santa Rita (Jukebox Jury) clinched the third place six lengths behind. Elisa Again, a clever 5,500gns purchase by her trainer Raffaele Biondi at the Tattersalls October Sale Book 3, is a half-sister to the Xgreatbritishbonus.co.uk very good young stayer Berkshire Rocco (Sir Percy), the runner-up in the Gr.1 St Leger and in the Gr.2 Queen’s Vase. The second dam Spotlight (Dr Fong) won the Gr.2 Lake Placid Handicap and produced the Gr.3 scorer Projection (Acclamation). The third dam Dust Dancer () landed the Gr.3 Prix de la Nonette. Elisa Again’s dam Sunny Again (Shirocco) has a yearling filly by Time Test and a filly foal by Le Havre. Franco Raimondi SOPRAN POSEIDONE REMAINS UNBEATEN WITH BLACK-TYPE WIN The improving two-year-old Sopran Poseidone (Gutaifan) landed a comfortable win in the Listed Premio Campobello, a serious test of stamina over 1800m yesterday at San Siro. The unbeaten colt needed some encouragement by the veteran French raider Gerald Mosse, but when he his stride he outran the front-runner Bell’Imbusto (Helmet) to score by three lengths. Unbeaten in three starts, Sopran Poseidone could head to the Gr.3 Premio Guido Berardelli. The winning jockey said: “He is a very good juvenile, one of the best in Italy. He handles soft ground but today was heavy and he did his job readily. I am very pleased with him and he won with plenty left in the tank.” The owner Leonardo Ciampoli paid €22,000 for him at Goffs November Sale and probably did not expected to pick up a Classic prospect, looking at his pedigree full of speed. The colt is a half-brother to the very fast filly Sopran Artemide (Bungle Inthejungle), who won the Listed Premio Vittorio Crespi and ran

second in the Gr.3 Premio Primi Passi at two, but had a serious injury after that. The dam Ms Sasha Malia (Verglas) failed to reach a racecourse but produced six winners. The stamina comes from the second dam Ostwahl (Waajib), a Gr.3 scorer in Germany who ran third in the Classic Gr.2 (then) Preis der Diana. Leonardo Ciampoli also purchased Ms Sasha Malia’s yearling, a filly by El Kabeir, for €26,000 at the 20129 Goffs November Sale. The mare has a colt foal by Bungle Inthejungle offered as Lot 681 at Goffs November Foal Sale. Franco Raimondi FULGENTIA ADDS ANOTHER STAKES SUCCESS FOR TERRITORIES The silks of Davide Livermore, the famous opera director, enjoyed a first Stakes winner yesterday at Capannelle in the Listed Premio Ubaldo Pandolfi, courtesy of the two-year-old filly Fulgentia (Territories). Livermore is from an historic racing family who moved from Newmarket to Italy more than a century ago. His grandfather Roberto was the head-lad of Razza Dormello Olgiata and later of Sergio Cumani. He came back to his roots and started to buy some horses a couple of years ago. Fulgentia, who ran second in the Listed Premio Vittorio Crespi, was still a maiden in four races and posted an upset when outgaming Virgin Isla (Mehmas) in the last 200m here. She crossed the line two lengths clear for a 1–2 for the training partnership of Grizzetti Galoppo. Davide Livermore purchased the filly for just £6,000 at the Goffs UK Silver Yearling Sale and he attended the sale in person during a trip as supporter of Turin football club, who played an international match against Wolverhampton. Fulgentia is the first Stakes winner from the initial 113 foals crop sired by Territories (Invincible Spirit). She is the first winner from four foals out of India Spirit (Dr Fong), a strong handicap racemare who won ten times in 92 starts and earned more than €102,000 in Italy. India Spirit is a half-sister to Gitano (Hernando), who landed the Gr.1 Goodwood Stakes and Gr.1 Singapore Airlines . The second dam Gino’s Spirit (Perugino) won the Gr.2 Noble Damsel Handicap and ran second in the Gr.2 , before its upgrade to Gr.1 status. Franco Raimondi IRELAND

ARCHIE WATSON TAKES GARNET STAKES WITH PARENT’S PRAYER Archie Watson made a habit of landing successful raids on Irish soil and was at it again yesterday, as Parent’s Prayer, a three- year-old daughter of , won the 1m Listed Garnet Stakes, one of two races at the grade at Naas. Partnered by Ben Coen, she settled towards the rear as the Aidan O’Brien-trained stablemates Darkest (Dark Angel), Elfin Queen (American Phaorah), Salsa (Galileo) and Holy Roman Empress (American Pharoah) dictated proceedings. As they straightened for home, the field spread out and the strong- travelling Parent’s Prayer found a gap to challenge at the two- furlong marker. Shaken up by Coen, she quickened to the front and, despite veering right briefly, she regathered herself and ran on to score by three lengths. Best On Stage (Pastorius) and Stormy Belle (Dandy Man) dead-heated for second, with Secret Pulse (Dragon Pulse) the fourth home, a neck further back.

A graduate of the Tattersalls Ireland Goresbridge Breeze-Up Sale, Parent’s Prayer was unraced at two and, having been second on her debut at Newmarket in June, got off the mark at the third time of asking at Ayr before finishing third in the Gr.3 Fairy Bridge Stakes last time out after a 50-day break. Bred by Sun Kingdom Pty Ltd, she is a half-sister to the two- time winner Production (Oasis Dream), out of the Listed Montrose Stakes winner Pure Excellence (Exceed And Excel), from the family of the Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes winner and sire Primo Valentino (Primo Dominie). BARRINGTON COURT SCORES EASY BLUEBELL STAKES WIN The Garnet Stakes was followed by the 1m4f Listed EBF Bluebell Stakes, which went to the Jessica Harrington-trained Barrington Court (Mastercraftsman) in the colours of JP McManus. The six-year-old raced out the back under Shane Foley as Starlight Dream (Epaulette) opened up a three-length lead. The chasing pack closed the gap by the time they entered the straight with three furlongs left to race, and Barrington Court travelled smoothly behind runners until a gap appeared at the two-furlong marker. Ridden out by Foley under hands and heels, she ran on to score by a length and a half from Snapraeceps (Canford Cliffs), with Yaxeni (Maxios) four and a half lengths further back in third. Unraced at two and three, Barrington Court started out in bumpers at four and won a Listed INH race at Navan. Having only made two starts in 2019, she got off the mark over timber in February this year and added a Tipperary hurdle before making her Flat debut at Bellewstown in August, which she won by seven lengths. Staying on the Flat since then, she was second in the Listed Oyster Stakes, won by subsequent Gr.1 Prix du Cadran heroine Princess Zoe, and the Gr.3 Loughbrown Stakes. Bred by Las Pampas Polo Team, she was purchased from the Goffs November Foal Sale, but failed to reach her reserve when re-offered at the Orby Sale the following year. She is a half-sister to the five-time winner Novay Essjay (Noverre), out of the unraced Arabian Hideaway (Desert Prince), a full-sister to the Gr.3 Solario Stakes winner Foss Way. The second dam is a half- sister to the Gr.2 winner, multiple Gr.1-placed and sire Gold Away and to the dam of Haras de Colleville’s stallion Galiway.
