MTV och Gaz ger dig årets vildaste fest... med mormor och morfar! Premiär för ”Spring Break with Grandad” Festar din farmor mer än vad du gör? Kan din morfar dricka fler shots än du och dina kompisar? Den 12 februari är det premiär för MTV:s kanske vildaste serie hittills – ”Spring Break with Grandad”. Sex singlar och deras far- och morföräldrar åker på en galen partyresa till Cancun, där ”Geordie Shore”-profilen Gary ”Gaz” Beadle avgör tävlingen om vem som är bäst på fest. Sol, stränder, heta kroppar... och mormor och morfar? I den nya serien ”Spring Break with Grandad” bevisar MTV att ålder inte är något mer än en siffra när det kommer till att vara festens mittpunkt. De heta singlarna och deras mor- och farföräldrar kommer att festa loss i Cancun under spring break och bevisa att de är bäst på fest. För att vinna måste deltagarna följa en enkel regel: ”party hard or go home”. På plats för att avgöra vem som är festens mittpunkt är partykungen Gary ”Gaz” Beadle från MTV-serien ”Geordie Shore”. I programmet medverkar bland annat James med sin 62-åriga farfar Andy. James är ett självutnämnt flirt-proffs, men jämfört med sin farfar ligger han i lä. Andy är nämligen en före detta strippa som säger sig ha hunnit charma över 600 (!) kvinnor i sina dagar. Bland deltagarna hittar vi även Paige, den 23-åriga nattklubbsvärdinnan som beskriver sig själv som en player. Med sin 69-åriga morfar Bob som ständig följeslagare kommer dock flörtandet att bli svårare. Bob är motsatsen till en wingman och kommer garanterat skrämma iväg beundrare om han inte anser dem vara bra nog för sitt barnbarn. Kommer James, Paige och de övriga deltagarna kunna festa hårt med deras far- och morföräldrar som sällskap? Eller är det rentutav mor- och farföräldrarna som visar sig vara vildast på festen? ”Spring Break with Grandad” visas på MTV söndagar kl. 23.00, med start den 12 februari. From reality television to the hyperreal: How do the pressures of reality shows such as Geordie Shore cause their characters to change their physical appearance? Clemency Newman Abstract Looking into the popular reality show Geordie Shore, I will undertake research to answer why it is that the women who appear on the show change their physical appearance and what connection this has to their celebrity status. I hope to argue that because the women are considered lower class, they have no other power than their perceived attractiveness and are therefore pressured into trying to achieve a hyperreal body, relating to Baudrillard’s theory of Simulacra and Simulation. Introduction Reality television is big business, with over 300 reality format shows on air in the US alone (Washington Post, 2015) from Idol to Big Brother, they rake in millions of viewers every night and have a significant impact on popular culture. These shows present a concentrated, edited and scandalised version of everyday life, wrapped in the guise of being true to the viewer, only more dramatic. Television has the ability to shape our view of the world and now with the ever pervasive aspects of social media, networks such as Bravo can imprint an everlasting impression of what we consider normal. However, even when know what we are watching is completely unreal, we accept it as ‘reality’ and accept the characters into our lives, until they become overthrown by a younger, prettier and more outrageous model. Geordie Shore is one such television show which presents an exaggerated, hyperbolic version of reality, with the cast members performing ridiculous, violent and carnal acts in front of a worldwide audience and being celebrated in the process.

Outskirts Vol. 35, 2016, 1-20 The (unsuccessful) reality television make under: Class, illegitimate femininities, and resistance in Snog, Marry, Avoid Anthea Taylor In postfeminist media culture, young women are now evaluated, regulated and exhorted to recalibrate in new ways, in new forms, especially the reality makeover program. No less seeking the transformation of its subjects, Britain’s ‘make under’ reality television program, Snog, Marry, Avoid, celebrating women’s ‘natural beauty’, focuses upon women whose gendered performance is considered a threat to normative femininity and the class distinctions with which it is intimately bound. In each episode, women are called to account for their physical, sartorial and behavioural crimes. This paper considers how the show attempts to position these young femininities as illegitimate and explores how the make under seeks to operate – often unsuccessfully – as a form of class makeover. Challenging narratives about the success of reality television in policing the bounds of ‘appropriate’ femininity, subjects routinely reject the judgements and sense of shame that the show seeks to instil, offering up – as this paper argues – a form of resistance that at once reinforces and troubles the program’s class-based logics. Heritage as a Vehicle for Development: The case of Bigg Market, Newcastle upon Tyne Loes Veldpaus and John Pendlebury School of Architecture Planning and Landscape, Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne, England, UK doi:10.1080/02697459.2019.1637168 Abstract: In this paper we examine the way conservation-planning has changed since the global economic crisis in Newcastle upon Tyne (UK), where austerity is still an all- consuming issue. Focusing upon a recent project around the Bigg Market, a historic public space, we map the new ‘conservation-planning assemblage’ where ‘other-than- public' forms of management have taken hold. We identify impacts of austerity, deregulation and a smaller state ideology, and show how the agency of heritage assets and narratives in urban context is focussed on economic performance and competitiveness. Within the conservation-planning assemblage, roles and responsibilities have changed, and we reflect on the impact this has on conservation policy and practice. Efter Jersey Shore & Geordie Shore Kommer Warsaw Shore
Polsk invasion på MTV: Efter Jersey Shore & Geordie Shore kommer Warsaw Shore Den populära franchisen som först började med Jersey Shore och som följdes av Geordie Shore i England, Gandia Shore i Spanien & The Valleys i UK fortsätter nu med en polsk version: Warsaw Shore. Programmet, som hade premiär i höstas, slog tittarekord på MTV i Polen och kommer nu att visas även i Sverige med start på måndag den 13 januari. Ikväll ger MTV svenska folket en inblick i polskt festande och svärande genom premiären av Warsaw Shore. Serien sätter Warszawa på partykartan och följer fyra tjejer och fyra killar som flyttar ifrån sina familjehem för att börja ett helt nytt liv i huvudstaden och bo tillsammans i ett hus fullt av kameror. På dagarna måste de slita ihop sina pengar på ett gym för att på kvällarna kunna släppa ut håret på Warszawas hetaste klubbar. Vredesutbrott, slagsmål, skratt, gråt och sex är vägen till vänskap bland de åtta främlingarna som inte kommer lämna någon oberörd. I ett av avsnitten får de besök av gänget från Geordie Shore vilket leder till drama i världsklass. Vi möter den långa Ania - en oblyg och energisk tjej som inte kan överleva en fest utan cocktails och twerking på dansgolvet. Den kortare Ania drömmer egentligen om att bli polis. Men i nuläget kretsar hennes liv kring alkoholstinna resor till klubbarna och hon undrar kanske lite för ofta “vad som hände igår kväll?". Eliza vill bli världsberömd modell . Men i nuläget gäller det att träffa så många nya killar som möjligt och dansa på borden.
