Charlotte Drops a Bombshell in Barcelona, and Finally THE CHARLOTTE AND GAZ SPECIAL Once upon the Tyne, in fair Geordie land where we lay our scene, the worlds of two young party-loving Geordies collided, and so began one of the most dysfunctional romances the nation has ever seen! This is a story of bucking, bust-ups, bedwetting and an addiction to parsnips. Whey aye... “They’re like Romeo and Juliet. If Romeo was a fucking twat” - Vicky 2 IN THE BEGINNING... It started with a word and that word was mortal! Charlotte and Gaz went into the Geordie Shore house ready for fun. But they had no idea what they were about to get into... “My tips to pull a fit guy are... don't wear a bra!” “Me necking on with two birds last night?...guilty” THE FIRST KISS “When we're out we're both at And they're off! Charlotte and Gaz share their very first kiss on a night out in Newcastle. Gaz separate ends of pies off all the other lasses, but will Charlotte let the club and it’s him open a bank account with her? like a magnet pulls us together”- Charlotte IT’S LOVE 4 “NO LISTEN! A pet-name attributed to Gaz’s unusually large penis. 7 “I seen his willy. it is absolutely huge. i was like ‘keep that thing away from me’. he's put a girl in hospital with that you know! i think he punctured a lung or something” - Charlotte 8 THE morning AFTER THE NIGHT BEFORE... Blissfully unaware that they’re about to embark on a love-hate relationship that will grip the nation, Gaz tries to keep things between him and Charlotte at arms length. CRAZY IN But Charlotte wants more. LOVE This will not end well. 9 A Banker | ˈbaŋkə | noun 1. A person who helps manage your money. 2. Charlotte - when Gaz hasn’t pulled on a night out. Charlotte says: “Well if I’m a banker then he’s a wanker.” 10 Charlotte declares bankruptcy... “I HATE YOU AND I WANT TO - Charlotte SHIT ON YOUR FACE” IT’S OFF 11 THE BED-WETTING INCIDENT Fast forward to season 2 and the Geordies are invited to Ricci’s house. Charlotte and Gaz are flirting again but things go very wrong when they find themselves in Ricci nanna's bed... WAIT ITS BACK ON 12 lov!? 14 WING-WOMAN CHARLOTTE Mexico closes the doors on Gaz and Charlotte’s steamy affair when they decide to just be friends in season 3. Charlotte promises to be his wing woman, but ends up getting jealous when Gaz flirts an older woman. Turbulent times are ahead... “I’m not going near Gaz because he reminds me of a bean sprout. Then again, I do like bean sprouts...” - Charlotte NOPE THEY’RE JUST FRIENDS 15 “She’s this little bubble of Charlotte land and when you’re part of it it’s an amazing land to be in” - Gaz Despite Psycho Charlotte coming out, Gaz still confesses his love for her to the cameras. 16 cancun confessions “I CAN’T IMAGINE NOT HAVING CHARLOTTE IN ME LIFE. I DON’T WANT TO IMAGINE CHARLOTTE NOT IN ME LIFE. THAT GIRL IS ONE OF A KIND” While Gaz acts like a kid in a sweet shop during Spring Break, emotions run high when Charlotte tells him that their days of banging are done, and they'll only ever be mates… DEFINITELY JUST FRIENDS 17 FEELIN’ HOT HOT HOT! After leaving behind the chaos in Cancun, Charlotte thought she could handle anything. Then MTV put her up to the Chilli Challenge... EXCLUSIVE CLIP 18 LOVE IS A ROLLER COASTER Charlotte returns to the house for season 4 with a BF - only to end up drunkenly getting into bed with Gaz! After a whole lot of flanter, their on/off relationship reaches an intriguing climax as Gaz hoists Charlotte around his waist for one final snog before saying goodbye. Can they make it work this time? 19 THE EUROPEAN LOVE AFFAIR It’s season 5 and the Geordies are on the road again - this time on a European tour! It’s been a while since they've done the dirty, but after a few cuddles Charlotte and Gaz give into temptation once again in Amsterdam. WHAT HAPPENS IN AMSTERDAM STAYS IN AMSTERDAM …OR DOES IT? 20 BARCELONA BREAKDOWN Charlotte drops a bombshell in Barcelona, and finally confesses her love for Gaz in one of the most emotional Geordie Shore moments ever! But Gaz says he doesn’t feel the same... “I’m finally telling Gary that I’m in love with him and that I always have been ever since day one... he is all i've ever known and without him I'm just lost” - Charlotte 21 PSYCHO CHARLOTTE IS BACK! Coming to terms with the harsh reality that her and Gaz will never be, psycho Charlotte is unleashed when Gaz sneaks a girl into his bedroom. Charlotte leaves the house and the pair aren’t on speaking terms at the end of season 5. “Everyone’s pushing and shoving. it looks like a fucking sale at Primark” -Vicky DEFINITELY HATE EACH OTHER 22 TROUBLE Down Under “I’ll never ever forgive you for what you did and we’ll never ever be friends you lost us so long ago” - Charlotte The Geordies are off to Australia for sun, sea and more mortal times! Charlotte is still avoiding Gaz, and in an anger management session confronts him about his bad behaviour. Gaz apologises and admits he banged birds to annoy her. Before leaving Oz the pair finally call a truce... 23 “N" matter wha# happen$ wit% m! an& Charlott!, w! coul& bot% b! marrie& t" other peopl!, ther! wil' stil' b! som! kin& of bon&. (er! wil' alway$ b! ) Gar* an& Charlott!” - Gaz JUST FRIENDS... 24 FLIRTY FRIENDS Back in Newcastle the gang return to the house for season 7. Charlotte and Gaz are friends again but the rest of the house are worried that they are getting flirty. Charlotte has a boyfriend, Mitch, but after a few drinks with the gang she stumbles into Gaz's bedroom... “Everyone knows me, I pull me pants down on the odd occasion I was probably gonna have a wee on the floor” - Charlotte 25 THE END OF THE ROAD? Gaz gets protective over Charlotte after she has a fight with Mitch. It all gets too much for Charlotte and she leaves the house with a note saying goodbye... 26 GEORDIE TOKENS OF LOVE REMEMBER WHEN...? Gaz returned Scramble and Egg to Charlotte as a peace offering after a house party fight Gaz got Charlotte a bell so he could come to her rescue if she ever needed it! Charlotte wrote a letter to Gaz’s granddad explaining that his grandson was in love with her. 27 WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Charlotte won Celebrity Big Brother 2013 and is currently dating Essex beau Mitch. They plan to have a McDonald’s themed wedding. 28 WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Gaz has co-produced a pop tune and continues to expand his empire. His female custom currently stands at 773 and counting… 29 OK - So we all know Charlotte and Gaz have had their ups and downs, but who knows what the future has in store for Geordie Shore's Romeo and Juliet.     From reality television to the hyperreal: How do the pressures of reality shows such as Geordie Shore cause their characters to change their physical appearance? Clemency Newman Abstract Looking into the popular reality show Geordie Shore, I will undertake research to answer why it is that the women who appear on the show change their physical appearance and what connection this has to their celebrity status. I hope to argue that because the women are considered lower class, they have no other power than their perceived attractiveness and are therefore pressured into trying to achieve a hyperreal body, relating to Baudrillard’s theory of Simulacra and Simulation. Introduction Reality television is big business, with over 300 reality format shows on air in the US alone (Washington Post, 2015) from Idol to Big Brother, they rake in millions of viewers every night and have a significant impact on popular culture. These shows present a concentrated, edited and scandalised version of everyday life, wrapped in the guise of being true to the viewer, only more dramatic. Television has the ability to shape our view of the world and now with the ever pervasive aspects of social media, networks such as Bravo can imprint an everlasting impression of what we consider normal. However, even when know what we are watching is completely unreal, we accept it as ‘reality’ and accept the characters into our lives, until they become overthrown by a younger, prettier and more outrageous model. Geordie Shore is one such television show which presents an exaggerated, hyperbolic version of reality, with the cast members performing ridiculous, violent and carnal acts in front of a worldwide audience and being celebrated in the process.

    Outskirts Vol. 35, 2016, 1-20 The (unsuccessful) reality television make under: Class, illegitimate femininities, and resistance in Snog, Marry, Avoid Anthea Taylor In postfeminist media culture, young women are now evaluated, regulated and exhorted to recalibrate in new ways, in new forms, especially the reality makeover program. No less seeking the transformation of its subjects, Britain’s ‘make under’ reality television program, Snog, Marry, Avoid, celebrating women’s ‘natural beauty’, focuses upon women whose gendered performance is considered a threat to normative femininity and the class distinctions with which it is intimately bound. In each episode, women are called to account for their physical, sartorial and behavioural crimes. This paper considers how the show attempts to position these young femininities as illegitimate and explores how the make under seeks to operate – often unsuccessfully – as a form of class makeover. Challenging narratives about the success of reality television in policing the bounds of ‘appropriate’ femininity, subjects routinely reject the judgements and sense of shame that the show seeks to instil, offering up – as this paper argues – a form of resistance that at once reinforces and troubles the program’s class-based logics.     Gänget i Geordie Shore är tillbaka för en ny säsong - i Grekland Nu är väntan äntligen över! På söndag är Geordie Shore tillbaka i rutan med en helt ny säsong. Denna gång får vi följa med gänget till Greklands partyöar. - Geordie Shore når helt nya höjder denna säsong. Räkna med fler vredesutbrott, tårar och drama än någonsin tidigare, säger Holly Hagan. Geordie Shore hade världspremiär våren 2011 och blev genast en enorm succé med miljoner tittare världen över och har sänts i 10 säsonger. I serien får vi följa ett gäng galna ”Geordies” som bor tillsammans i ett hus i Newcastle, festar, bråkar, skrattar och hamnar i en hel del galna situationer. I den nya säsongen skickas gänget till Grekland på uppdrag av deras chef Anna och vi får följa profilerna när de öhoppar mellan Greklands alla partyöar. - Greklandresan var helt galen! Vi gjorde massa dumma saker och speciellt jag. Jag var i ett förhållande under inspelningsperioden, men det märks inte i huvudtaget, säger Charlotte Crosby I förra säsongen släppte Gaz släppte bomben att han skaffat en seriös flickvän, till Charlottes stora förtvivlan. Holly och Kyle blev bli officiella och Marnie var otrogen mot sin nya pojkvän med Aaron. Dessutom fick vi träffa nya tillskotten Chloe och Nathan som passade perfekt in i skaran efter en hel del ”tashin’ on” och ”kickin’ off”. Hur kommer intrigerna att fortlöpa den här säsongen?
