Modi purported event "at Capitol Hill" exposed as fake Sangh Front in the US, NIAPPI / Shalabh Kumar Reported to the Ethics Committee for fraud FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Washington DC, Saturday, November 16, 2013 The Coalition Against Genocide (CAG) has successfully exposed Narendra Modi's purported event on "Capitol Hill" as a fraud and an exercise in illegal and criminal misuse of US Government symbols. After five days of phone calls, letters, document verification and hundreds of emails between CAG activists and Congressional staffers, several members of the House Republican Conference whose names had been used to endorse the Modi event have washed their hands off the event. First reports in the media also suggest that the congresspersons were unaware that their names or the Congressional seal were being used to promote the Modi event and that the fraud had been enacted by an organization called National Indian American Public Policy Institute (NIAPPI) and one Mr. Shalabh Kumar, a person with a checkered history of ethics violations. CAG has learned that the office of Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers has issued a "Cease and Desist" order to Mr. Shalabh 'Shalli' Kumar and NIAPPI, who are organizers of the event outside Capitol Hill, where Modi is expected to appear via satellite video on November 19, 2013. The promotional material for the event has illegally used the seal of the House of Representatives as well as names and pictures of the top Republican Leadership without their consent. It purports to have the support and endorsement of the House Republican Conference, a top Republican body chaired by Rep.

  • Why US Immigration Bill S744 Is a 'Wake-Up Call' for India
Why US Immigration Bill S744 is a ‘Wake-Up Call’ for India Inc Telecom Drive | August 11, 2014 Need for new Modi-Mantra to safeguard US- India Strategic Interests while many American Politicians and diplomats line up in New Delhi but shy away from real issues “US Immigration Bill S744 which is under consideration in US Parliament can lead to a loss of $ 30 Billion annually for India. This bill could also negatively impact India’s GDP by 1.5%, cause 5000 Indian American owned small IT firms to go under and cause massive unemployment in India as well as in US,” Says Shalabh Kumar, Chairman of Indian American Advisory Council of House Republican Conference of US Parliament & Chairman of NIAPPI Business Council. ‘Proverbial Elephant in the room can no longer be ignored.’ On the backdrop of heavy traffic of US officials in New Delhi in last three months to promote India-US economic relations but without showing any clarity on Immigration Bill S744, a ‘Wake- Up Call’ is needed to carefully listen to and guard against the “double-speak” of some of the US politicians and diplomats who recently visited the capital. The S 744 Immigration Bill if enacted into law by the US Parliament, could result in almost a trade war between the two largest democracies in the world and cause major headaches for US-India relations. This has the potential of unraveling what otherwise could be a strategic alliance between two countries with a lot in common. In a bid to highlight the ground realities of Indian- American entrepreneurs and businesspersons in US and challenging the rosy statements made on the heels of Secretary Kerry’s recent visit to India, Kumar emphasized on the need for Indian Americans and Indian policy makers to take a strong stand against the anti-Indian provisions of the S 744 Bill which is being considered to get cleared in the US Parliament.

Exclusive Interview with Shalabh Kumar | PBD Special | 2016 Roundups 8 Dec 31-Jan 14, 2017 INTERVIEW SHALABH KUMAR Bridge between US & India I first heard of Shalabh Kumar in 2011 when the Chicago businessman’s son’s mega wedding in New Zealand to a beauty queen – baraat coming in helicopters and all that -- hit global headlines. Then in 2013, controversially, he took a Congressional del- egation to India to meet Narendra Modi, when the Gujarat Chief Minister was not even allowed to enter USA. That contributed to Modi getting propelled into leading BJP in the 2014 election and becoming Prime Minister. Last year, Shalabh ‘Shalli’ Kumar surprised again by cutting a million dollar check for Donald Trump’s campaign, and getting him to grace an event organized by Kumar’s Republican Hindu Coalition in New Jersey. Now on the Trump’s transition and finance team, Kumar is expected to play a key role in enhancing trade and other ties between India and America.

Now I have a few thoughts on the content part. It is my feeling CMD - Kent RO Systems Ltd. that NRI Achievers is slowly losing its charm as a ‘magazine with multi con- tent’ which can satisfy all kinds of readers whether they are politics, sport, science, cuisine, lifestyle or healthy-living aficionados. Sometimes your is- sues lack on current affairs. • "Indian" of Four Continents: Reading for Horizontal Relations of Violence, Complicity, and the Making of White Settler Colonialism
THE "INDIAN" OF FOUR CONTINENTS: READING FOR HORIZONTAL RELATIONS OF VIOLENCE, COMPLICITY, AND THE MAKING OF WHITE SETTLER COLONIALISM by Shaista Patel A thesis submitted in conformity with the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Department of Social Justice Education University of Toronto © Copyright by Shaista Patel, 2018 The "Indian" of Four Continents: Reading for Horizontal Relations of Violence, Complicity, and the Making of White Settler Colonialism Shaista Patel Doctor of Philosophy Department of Social Justice Education University of Toronto 2018 Abstract This research study asks: How do we theorize the place of non-Black people of colour vis-à- vis Indigenous peoples and Black people in North America? Paying attention to transnational power relations, and colonial entanglements of differential racialization, I particularly inquire into the place of South Asian diaspora in North America. This study draws upon critical Indigenous, Black, anti-caste, and transnational feminist theories to argue for the urgent need to place analyses of white settler colonialism here in conversation with other entangled histories, presented through discrepant spatialities and temporalities, in order to examine what we know and have yet to learn about entanglements of race, Indigeneity, gender, sexuality, caste, and relations of labor. My “unlikely archive” (Lowe, 2015) of complicity consists of a wide array of legal, representational and cultural artifacts. Drawing upon Edward Said’s contrapuntal reading of texts, and Lisa Lowe’s methodology of paying attention to past conditional temporality, this study travels from analyzing lingering coloniality in a series of photographs titled An Indian from India by a contemporary South Asian artist to Bengal of 19th century where I study Neel Darpan, an anti-colonial protest play.
