The nearest town is Jerantut town which is approximately ±35 km from the Project site. The surrounding areas of the project site at the southeastern part are oil palm and also rubber plantation. The Project site was referred to the Standard Sheet from the Department of Survey and Mapping (JUPEM), Pahang. It rests on sheet number 782-C, 782-D, 781-C, 772-A, 772-B, 771-A, 772-C, 772-D, 771-C, 762-B and 761-A (Appendix 1). 1.2.2 Accessibility to the Project Site The project site is located in Mukim Tembeling in the District of Jerantut, Pahang. From Jerantut town, it can be accessed via Federal Route 234 (Kuala Tembeling - Kuala Lipis) heading towards Kuala Lipis. After traversing for about 23 km through Federal Route 234, the junction to the Project site will be on the right (Plate 1.2.2); the junction road connects to an unpaved road. After about 1 km on the unpaved road, there is a concrete bridge across Sg. Jelai (Plate 1.2.3). After crossing the river, continue for approximately 8 km of existing unpaved road (Plate 1.2.4) before reaching the entrance to an existing oil palm plantation (Phase 1 (PT4856 - PT4860)) (Plate 1.2.5). At this point, turn left and travel for another 4 km to reach the boundary of the Project site. This road is located on the southwest border of the Project site and will be used during the development and operation phase. Plate 1.2.5 Entrance to the Project Site 1.2.3 Access Road Network Since the proposed Project development areas share same common borders with the existing oil palm plantation of Phase 1 (PT4856 - PT4860), sharing of the access road will be practiced. The existing road in Phase 1 (as described above) will connect directly to the proposed access road for Phase 2 (PT4951-PT4955) and Phase 3 area (PT4987-PT4991). The existing access road and proposed access roads are presented in Figure 1.2.2. Nowadays, growing public awareness of the necessity for the conservation and protection of geological and geomorphological features and play an important role in our ecosystem. This study is to propose Kenong as a future of Geoparks. The objectives of study are to promote geological heritage to the public as well as to support sustainable economic development of the area through the development of geological tourism. Qualitative methods are use in collecting data and the instrument used is observations. The main findings are Geofeatures inventory and issues, concerns and opportunities based on the parameter. Kenong has the characteristics which are a Geopark has to encompass a particular geological heritage, with specific geological and geomorphological features. Both of them are important in terms of their scientific quality, rarity, aesthetic appeal or educational value. Keywords: Geopark, Heritage, Geoscience education, Sustainable development 1. Introduction A Geopark location contains a few geologically or geomorphological features. This location is a unified area that advances the protection and use of geological heritage in a sustainable way and also promotes the economic well-being of the people who live there.

Citizen Action for Tigers (CAT) Walk PLUS Frequent Ask Question (FAQ) (ver.2019-11-19) 1. CAT Walk in brief The CAT Walk offers an opportunity for the public to be involved in the protection of tigers (including other wildlife) and their habitat at the Sungai Yu Tiger Corridor in Merapoh, Pahang. The Corridor, which is the last remaining natural connection between the Titiwangsa Main Range and the Taman Negara in Peninsular Malaysia, is an area known for poaching, forest encroachment, and illegal mining to take place. CAT Walk volunteers report the finding of such crimes to the MYCAT Wildlife Crime Hotline (019-356 4194) who relays the information to authorities for enforcement action. 2. What to expect on a CAT Walk? While trekking and enjoying the great outdoors, CAT Walk volunteers will look for signs of poaching (i.e. snares, traps) and encroachment (i.e. campsite, illegal logging, and mining) as well as animal signs (pugmarks, claw marks on trees, etc.). Some routes are also good for bird watching. Do expect to get: mosquito/insect/leech bites; wet in rain/river/sweat; or sunburnt (a hat and/or sunblock would come in handy). Trek conditions: A CAT Walk route might be one or a combination of these situations: wet/muddy path, flat or hilly trail, gradual or steep climb/descent, walking along/across railway tracks, walking on animal trails, walking along/across rivers with waist-deep water. The trails are not on platform boardwalks. Please take note that smoking or vaping is not allowed in the forest area. 3.

This dissertation would not be possible without the patient guidance and enlightening advice of my thesis supervisor A/P Victor Savage; the love and support of my husband and family; the farmers of Cameron Highlands for sharing their food, farms and stories with me; and Mr Chua for opening his home to us. Thank you to the marvellous friends and assistants, who toiled in field with me, kept loneliness away, participated with curiosity and allowed me to share in their discovery of where our food comes from. This dissertation has taken five years and seen through many life events from marriage, births to illness and death. I could not have kept going without all the support and encouragement from closest friend to remote acquaintances on Facebook who cheered me on these past six years. Citizen Action for Tigers (CAT) Walk Frequent Ask Question (FAQ) (ver.2020-02-25 by SMB) 1. CAT Walk in brief The CAT Walk offers an opportunity for members of the public to be involved in the protection of tigers, other endangered wildlife and their habitat at the Sungai Yu Ecological Corridor in Merapoh, Pahang. The Corridor, which is the last remaining natural connection between the Titiwangsa Main Range and the Taman Negara National Park, is an area known for poaching, forest encroachment and illegal mining to take place, and volunteers report the finding of such crimes to the MYCAT Wildlife Crime Hotline (019-356 4194) who relays the information to authorities for enforcement action. Volunteers must be above 18 years of age, in good health and physical condition, and confident that they can complete a day walk of about 6km with little assistance. Prior experience in hiking, trekking and camping in the Malaysian rainforest is an advantage. 2. What to expect on a CAT Walk? While trekking and enjoying the great outdoors, CAT Walk volunteers will look for signs of poaching (i.e. snares, traps) and encroachment (i.e. campsite, illegal logging and mining) as well as animal signs (pugmarks, claw marks on trees, etc.).
