ISBN 978-80-8121-680-0 P R E D S L O V Vážení čitatelia, do rúk sa Vám dostáva už päťdesiaty prvý ročník Štatistickej ročenky hlavného mesta Slovenskej republiky Bratislavy. Publikácia prináša komplexnú charakteristiku vývoja hlavného mesta SR Bratislavy a poskytuje široké spektrum informácií pre slovenských i zahraničných používateľov. Štatistická ročenka obsahovo a formálne nadväzuje na predchádzajúce ročníky, nakoľko našou snahou je udržanie stability jednotlivých kapitol. Ročenka sa tematicky člení na 21 kapitol a formou tabuľkových prehľadov poskytuje komplexné štatistické informácie o demografickom, ekonomickom a sociálnom vývoji spoločnosti. Súčasťou každej kapitoly sú metodické vysvetlivky, definície ukazovateľov a zdroje údajov. Časové rady sú prevažne za päťročné obdobie a v samostatnej kapitole, ktorú sme zaradili minulý rok, sa vybrané ukazovatele uvádzajú aj v dlhodobých časových radoch. V kapitole I. Charakteristika hl. m. SR Bratislavy boli aktualizované výsledky volieb do orgánov samosprávy obcí 2018, ktoré sa konali 10. novembra 2018. Záverečná časť publikácie obsahuje grafickú prezentáciu údajov vybraných ukazovateľov. Základným rámcom pre tvorbu štatistických informácií z oblasti ekonomických štatistík je revidovaná klasifikácia ekonomických činností SK NACE. Národná štatistická klasifikácia je vypracovaná na báze spoločnej štatistickej klasifikácie ekonomických činností v Európskom spoločenstve NACE Revision 2. Štandardnou súčasťou Ročenky je CD, ktoré obsahuje okrem údajov za hl. m. SR Bratislavu, vydané v tlačenej forme, aj vybrané údaje za jej mestské časti. Publikácia je dostupná na stiahnutie aj v elektronickej forme na internetovom portáli Štatistického úradu SR (www.statistics.sk). Informácie o hospodárskom a sociálnom vývoji hl. m. SR Bratislavy a jednotlivých mestských častí je možné čerpať aj z verejnej databázy DATAcube, ktorá je taktiež voľne dostupná na portáli úradu. Na príprave ročenky sa podieľal kolektív zamestnancov Štatistického úradu SR - pracoviska ŠÚ SR v Bratislave, ktorému patrí poďakovanie za vykonanú prácu. Vyslovujeme poďakovanie aj všetkým organizáciám za poskytnuté údaje, ktoré štátna štatistika nezisťuje. Štatistická ročenka hlavného mesta SR Bratislavy 2018 Statistical Yearbook of the Capital of the SR Bratislava 2018 P R E F A C E Dear Readers, You are getting into your hands the fifty-first edition of the Statistical Yearbook of the Capital of the Slovak Republic Bratislava. The publication brings a comprehensive characteristic of the development of Bratislava, the Capital of the Slovak Republic and provides a wide range of information for Slovak and foreign users. The Yearbook follows its contents and framework from the previous issues since our aim is to maintain the stability of individual chapters. The Yearbook is divided into 21 chapters by thematic fields and in the form of tables it provides statistical information on demographic, economic and social development of society. Each chapter contains methodological explanations, definitions of indicators and data sources. Time series are given mainly for the five-year period and in separate chapter, which we have included previous year, for selected indicators in the long-term time series. In the Chapter I. Characteristics of the Capital of the SR Bratislava we have updated the results on elections to the municipal self-governing bodies, which took place on November 10, 2018. The final part of the publication contains a presentation of data for selected indicators in form of graphs. The basic framework for the production of statistical information in the field of economic statistics is a revised classification of economic activities SK NACE. National statistical classification is based on a common statistical classification of economic activities in the European Community NACE Revision 2. As a standard, part of the Yearbook is CD that contains not only information about the Capital of the Slovak Republic Bratislava, which are issued in print, but also data for selected indicators for its municipal parts. The publication is also available for download in electronic format on the website of the Statistical Office of the SR (www.statistics.sk). Information on economic and social development of the Capital City of Bratislava and its municipal parts can be drawn also from public database DATAcube available on the website. On the preparation of the Yearbook took part the employees of the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic - Regional Office in Bratislava, whom belong thanks for their performed work. The material comes from the middle Miocene (Astaracian, MN 6) of Slovakia, more precisely from the well-known locality called Zapfe‘s fissure fillings (Devı´nska Nova´ Ves, Bratislava). The fossil material consists of isolated left maxilla, right dentary, right pterygoid and cervical and dorsal vertebrae. The currently known fossil record suggests that isolation of environment of the Zapfe‘s fissure site, created a refugium for the genus Euleptes in Central Europe (today, this taxon still inhabits southern part of Europe and North Africa—E. europea), probably resulting from the island geography of this area during the middle Miocene. The isolation of this territory might have facilitated allopatric speciation. The suburbanization process in the hinterland of Bratislava has been significantly growing over the last couple of years. The consequences are not only in the redis- tribution of population but also in the structural changes of the land cover. The forms of land use typical for rural landscape (arable land, pastures and forests) are replaced by areas of urban housing, industrial, commercial and transportation zones. The purpose of this paper is to document the scope and intensity of changes in the land cover structure in the Functional Urban Region of Bratislava by means of CORINE Land Cover database analysis. On the basis of structural changes in the land cover we identify the zone of city core, zone of adjacent outskirts, subur- ban zone and rural fringe zone which are differently affected by the process of suburbanization. Key words: suburbanization, hinterland of Bratislava, land cover change ÚVOD Prímestská krajina Bratislavy je územím, kde v súčasnosti dochádza k rozsiahlym zmenám v priestorovej organizácii spoločnosti a jej činností. Táto prechodná zóna medzi mestom a vidieckou krajinou sa dynamicky transformuje, čo spôsobuje rozsiahle zmeny v krajinnej pokrývke. Each day it transfers thousand inhabitants and tourist. Everybody who uses public transport relies on it and expects it will be in good condition. Many tourists come to cities and towns without their own means of transport and have to rely on public transport services. These visitor are given first destination feeling through contact with railway or airport premises and then with public transport to be able to reach the chosen point. The public transportation network including cycle infrastructure in Slovakia is managed by the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Regional Development, as well as by specific cities and towns where they are or through which they pass.

Box 254, 814 99 Bratislava, [email protected] The historical image of Bratislava and its surroundings at the end of the 18th century with accent on land use The aim of this paper is to document in detail the historical image of Bratislava of the late 18th century using the maps created by Johann Mathias Korabinsky – Grundrisz der königlichen freyen krönungs Stadt Preszburg nebst der umliegenden Gegend (Ground plan of the free royal coronation city of Bratislava with its surroundings). The map was made during the first military mapping of Austria -Hungary. Not only the urban and rural built -up landscape is relatively well captured on the map, but also the agricultural (especially vineyard) landscape including the rivers, roads, and for- ests. Natural landscape seems to be better shown compared to the built -up areas. Branches of the River Danube even forest paths as well as smaller meandering streams are precisely mapped. Agricultural land is divided into blocks of fields of various sizes. The urban landscape is represented as a whole (without individual buildings), where only streets and squares are distinguished. The built -up rural land- scape lacks reality because although houses are precisely plotted, their number does not correspond to reality. Eight forms of land use (tree and shrub vegetation, perma- nent grassland, arable and permanent crops, water courses and bodies, exposed sub- strate and relief shapes, roads, built -up areas and isolated objects outside urban areas) are identifiable.

ABOUT BRATISLAVA Bratislava is the capital and size of the population as well as the largest city of the Slovak Republic. It is a city rich in monuments, many of which are located in Old Town. The town monument reservation is one of the largest in Slovakia. The dominant feature is the four-storey Bratislava castle, next to which is the building of the National Council of the Slovak Republic and not far from the Cathedral of St. Martin. The most striking modern building is the SNP Bridge on the Danube, the world's largest suspension bridge with one pillar and one hanging plane. In 2001, it was declared the construction of a century in Slovakia in the category of bridge construction. Bratislava is located in Central Europe, at the coordinates of 17 ° 10'75 '' east longitude, 48 ° 14'90 '' N, 126 - 514 m above sea level. It spreads along both banks of the Danube, on the hilltop of the Little Carpathians. It lies in the immediate vicinity of Austria and Hungary. All over the year the arm is significantly influenced by groundwater by reason of seepage. Because of low mean water temperature (12 ◦C) and poorly developed macrovegetation in particular, the arm reminds gravel pit-like. The annual average of zooplankton biomass was low and ranged from 0.35 g m−3 (2002) to 1.28 g m−3 (2003), because of low crustacean abundance. Total cladoceran abundance was excessively low in both years and ranged from 3.5 N L−1 (2002) to 16.6 N L−1(2003). Small species, Bosmina longirostris and Chydorus sphaericus were dominant. Only four adult Copepoda – Cyclops vicinus, Thermocyclops crassus, Eurytemora velox and Eudiaptomus gracilis –were recorded in quantitative samples of both years. In the zooplankton assemblage dominated rotifers (Synchaeta pectinata, Synchaeta oblonga, Polyarthra dolichoptera and Keratella cochlearis) which represented 78% and 67% of total abundance respectively. The total of 19 species of rotifers, 34 Cladocera species and 16 taxa of Copepoda were found.
