The wharf was originally used for importing marble and by the 1980s was used as a plaster works. The original industrial use of the site has long gone, which left a disfigurement of buildings along the riverside that contributed nothing. The proposed development has had a highly positive effect both on the site itself and its surrounding community – bringing new and vibrant life into a redundant group of buildings.
