Recentemente, o grupo lançou o single “Everything Now” e, em seguida, o álbum homônimo. Indie Mixtape :: View email as a web page :: Arcade Fire apparently is in the midst of working on a new album, with writing having “intensified” during the pandemic. In spite of ourselves, we are interested in hearing this quarantine opus, even though we openly disliked their previous album, 2017’s Everything Now. Arcade Fire is also on our brains lately because the 10th anniversary of their third ( and we would argue greatest) album, The Suburbs, was this past weekend. That album, like all Arcade Fire LPs, is a mix of breathtaking musical moments and grandiose, eyeroll-inducing thematic gestures. And yet we wouldn’t want Arcade Fire to be any other way. Sometimes they miss in embarrassing fashion, and other times they absolutely crush it. But they always swing big. For this list of our 20 favorite Arcade Fire songs, we took stock of the crushes while also attempting to understand how and why they miss. -- Steven Hyden, Uproxx Cultural Critic and author of This Isn't Happening: Radiohead's "Kid A" and the Beginning of the 21st Century PS: Was this email forwarded to you? Tags: Music, Film, Inspiration, Process, Identity, Production, Multi-tasking. On being thoughtful about each decision you make Musician and composer Owen Pallett on maintaining a punk ethos in the world of chamber music, their fool-proof lyric writing method, revisiting old work, and negative inspiration. This is your first solo album in six years, but you’ve been busy in that time with different scores and arranging for other musicians. Did these projects take any creative or financial pressure off you when it came to making this record? Sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t really. Film scores are always kind of a bit of a crapshoot. If you score a film and it becomes a bit of a hit, then you do get residuals off it, so it is a good investment if you pick the right films. I notoriously have a bit of a bad nose for a good script. Back in 2008 or 2007, Gus Van Sant was asking me to possibly score Milk prior to studio involvement, and I remember reading the script and thinking it was bullshit. It won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, and I was like “Oh wow, I don’t really have a good nose for that kind of stuff.” Most of the production work and arrangement work that I do is a little more labor of love.

While the most advanced technology has been used to pho tograph and reproduce this manuscript, the quality of the reproduction is heavily dependent upon the quality of the material submitted. Pages in any manuscript may have indistinct print. In all cases the best available copy has been filmed. The following explanation of techniques is provided to help clarify notations which may appear on this reproduction. 1. Manuscripts may not always be complete. When it is not possible to obtain missing pages, a note appears to indicate this. 2. When copyrighted materials are removed from the manuscript, a note ap pears to indicate this. 3. Oversize materials (maps, drawings, and charts) are photographed by sec tioning the original, beginning at the upper left hand comer and continu ing from left to right in equal sections with small overlaps. Each oversize page is also filmed as one exposure and is available, for an additional charge, as a standard 35mm slide or in black and white paper format.* 4. Most photographs reproduce acceptably on positive microfilm or micro fiche but lack clarify on xerographic copies made from the microfilm.

There was just something intrinsically, fundamentally wrong about an insufferably cute animal that was smart enough to know that it was insufferably cute, and therefore exploited that insufferable cuteness with almost ruthless impunity. In the 18 days since she’d arrived in their house, she’d quickly learned that she could do virtually anything and get away with it, because she was, quite literally, too cute to punish. Fortunately, thus far she had yet to attempt anything truly criminal, but that didn’t mean that she didn’t abuse her cuteness. One of the ways she was abusing it was just what she was doing now, licking his ear when he was trying to sleep. Her tiny little tongue was surprisingly hot, and it startled him awake. “Amber!” he grunted incoherently. “I’m trying to sleep!” She gave one of her little squeaking yips, not quite a bark but somewhat similar to it, and jumped up onto his shoulder. She didn’t even weigh three pounds, she was so small, but her little claws were like needles as they kneaded into his shoulder. He groaned in frustration and swatted lightly in her general direction, but the little bundle of fur was not impressed by his attempts to shoo her away.

Volume I These days, labels such as classical, rock and pop mean less and less since young musicians frequently blur boundaries between genres. These young musicians have built an alternative musical universe. I construct five different categories to explore this universe. They are 1) circuits of alternate concert venues, 2) cross-genre collaborations, 3) alternative modes of musical groups, 4) new compositional trends in classical chamber music, and 5) new ensembles and record labels. ii In this dissertation, I aim to explore these five categories, connecting them to recent cultural trends in New York.

Adventures in Film Music Redux - Composer Profiles ADVENTURES IN FILM MUSIC REDUX COMPOSER PROFILES A. R. RAHMAN Elizabeth: The Golden Age A.R. Rahman, in full Allah Rakha Rahman, original name A.S. Dileep Kumar, (born January 6, 1966, Madras [now Chennai], India), Indian composer whose extensive body of work for film and stage earned him the nickname “the Mozart of Madras.” Rahman continued his work for the screen, scoring films for Bollywood and, increasingly, Hollywood. He contributed a song to the soundtrack of Spike Lee’s Inside Man (2006) and co- wrote the score for Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007). However, his true breakthrough to Western audiences came with Danny Boyle’s rags-to-riches saga Slumdog Millionaire (2008). Rahman’s score, which captured the frenzied pace of life in Mumbai’s underclass, dominated the awards circuit in 2009. He collected a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Award for best music as well as a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for best score. He also won the Academy Award for best song for “Jai Ho,” a Latin-infused dance track that accompanied the film’s closing Bollywood-style dance number. Rahman’s streak continued at the Grammy Awards in 2010, where he collected the prize for best soundtrack and “Jai Ho” was again honoured as best song appearing on a soundtrack. Rahman’s later notable scores included those for the films 127 Hours (2010)—for which he received another Academy Award nomination—and the Hindi-language movies Rockstar (2011), Raanjhanaa (2013), Highway (2014), and Beyond the Clouds (2017).

“‘The Glowing Man’: A Critical Analysis of a Social Media Disclosure of Sexual Violence in the Field of Cultural Production” by Christopher Worden A Thesis presented to The University of Guelph In partial fulfillment of requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in Sociology Guelph, Ontario, Canada © Christopher Worden, September, 2017 ABSTRACT “‘The Glowing Man’: A Critical Analysis of a Social Media Disclosure of Sexual Violence in the Field of Cultural Production” Chris Worden Advisor: University of Guelph, 2017 Dr. Mavis Morton This thesis examines the discourse surrounding an online disclosure of sexual violence in the music field. Research questions addressed three things: 1. The discursive role of symbolic capital and the field of cultural production; 2. The extent to which features of the online feminist counter-public were represented; and 3. How the logic of the music field and strategies of the online feminist counter-public contributed to accused and complainant outcomes. A critical thematic analysis of the online discourse demonstrated that symbolic capital and position were deployed to defend the accused and discredit the complainant. The response of the online feminist counter-public countered some discrediting discourse common in sexual assault cases, but did not fully engage with the logic of the field of cultural production that was used to discredit the complainant in this case. Recommendations are offered to music journalists, arts funding organizations, and online activists to mitigate against gendered power imbalances stemming from the devaluing of women as cultural producers. iii ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS I benefited immensely from the expertise and guidance of my advisor, Dr.

Die Werbeagentur fragte Final Fantasy zwecks Verwendung des Songs „This is the Dream of Win & Regine“ als musikalische Untermalung ihres Werbespots an.
