Please smash the like button and subscribe to our channel for more content. 2 3 Abstract Background: Regarding previous literature, there has been much focus on Social Media in recent years. Researchers have elaborated on how social media platforms are tools for big companies or SMEs in terms of marketing and networking. Moreover, research shows how individuals can use social media as an entrepreneurial platform. The monetary success of individuals on online platforms has created a new generation of entrepreneurs. The possibility of monetization on social media is available to anyone, from which different strategies to reach monetization have emerged. Problem: There is substantial knowledge on how firms use social media as a tool, and research that supports the claim that entrepreneurs can achieve monetary gains of social media. Although related research exists, how social media entrepreneurs monetize digital platforms and the different means to do so has not been documented enough. Purpose: This paper aims to add knowledge and make clear that social media is not only a tool for companies, but that the monetizing features of social media are not as clear as the marketing and networking aspects. Thus, the research question “how do social media entrepreneurs monetize YouTube” was created. Method: A qualitative multiple-case study with direct-observations on social media platforms was desired, but it was limited to the platform YouTube, where eight channels, which are divided into movie review and makeup review content, were observed. The findings are interpreted with the existing knowledge the literature offers. Result: The monetization strategies a social media entrepreneur can apply through YouTube are advertisement, affiliate codes/links, collaborations, merchandise, crowdfunding, PR and, sponsorships. The subscriber relationship clarifies the different strategies of reaching monetization. Two types of strategies emerge from the data: the career-oriented and audience- oriented framework. This article used a comparative systematic review to explore the factors that act as drivers to informality in South Africa (SA) and Nigeria, the challenges that impede the growth dynamics of the informal sector, the dominant subsectors, and policy initiatives targeting informal sector providers. A systematic search of Google Scholar, Scopus, ResearchGate was performed together with secondary data collated from grey literature. Using Boolean string search protocols facilitated the elucidation of research questions (RQs) raised in this study. An inclusion and exclusion criteria became necessary for rigour, comprehensiveness and limitation of publication bias. The data collated from thirty-one (31) primary studies (17 for SA and 14 for Nigeria) revealed that unemployment, income disparity among citizens, excessive tax burdens, excessive bureaucratic hurdles from government, inflationary tendencies, poor corruption control, GDP per capita, and lack of social protection survival tendencies all act as drivers to the informal sector in SA and Nigeria. Several challenges are given for both economies and policy incentives that might help sustain and improve the informal sector in these two countries.

Over the past several years, the LGBTQ community has been recognized more equally in comparison to other groups in society. June 2015 was a huge turning point for the community due to the legalization of same sex marriage. The legalization of same sex marriage in June 2015 had a great impact on the LBGTQ community, as well as non-members. With an increase in new media platforms like YouTube, content on the LGBTQ community has become more accessible and more prevalent than decades ago. LGBTQ media has been represented in movies, television shows, short videos, and even books. The exposure of LQBTQ characters in a popular 2000s sitcom called Will & Grace paved the way for LGBTQ representation in media. A study conducted by Edward Schiappa and others concluded that exposure to LGBTQ communities through TV helped educate Americans, therefore reducing sexual prejudice. Unfortunately, the way the LBGTQ community is portrayed through online media such as YouTube has an effect on LGBTQ members and non-members, and it has yet to be studied. Most “young people's experiences are affected by the present context characterized by the rapidly increasing prevalence of new (online) media” because of their exposure to several media outlets (McInroy and Craig 32). This gap has led to the research question does the LGBTQ representation on YouTube negatively or positively represent this community to its members, and in what way is the community impacted by this representation as well as non- members? One positive way the LGBTQ community was represented through media was on the popular TV show Will & Grace.
