ABSTRAKT Ko čka divoká, Felis silvestris , je jedním našich nejmén ě poznaných savc ů. O jejím sou časném areálu v České republice nevíme tém ěř nic. Dokonce ani nem ůžeme s jistotou říci, zda se na našem území opravdu vyskytuje. Tato práce by m ěla sloužit k obohacení českojazy čné literatury o informace o této šelm ě, a tak rozší řit pov ědomí odborné i laické ve řejnosti a zárove ň podnítit zájem o studium a terénní výzkum tohoto druhu. Práce je pojata jako úvod do problematiky rozší ření ko čky divoké, a proto se na za čátku zabývá fylogenezí a fylogeografií, které mají p římou souvislost se sou časným areálem Evropského výskytu. Shrnuty jsou poznatky o domestikaci, které jsou d ůležité k pochopení kapitoly o hybridizaci, pojednávající o nebezpe čném trendu k řížení populace divokých a domácích ko ček ve stále siln ěji antropomorfizované krajin ě. K praktickému výzkumu a ochran ě jsou pak nezbytné znalosti o rozpoznávání ko ček divokých a domácích, p řípadn ě jejich hybrid ů, což je pom ěrn ě komplikovaná záležitost. Na záv ěr jsou zpracovány poznatky o prostorové aktivit ě ko ček divokých, které jsou d ůležité p ři plánování strategie jejich ochrany. Práce by jako celek m ěla být podkladem pro další studium a praktický výzkum ko ček divokých v ČR. ABSTRACT The wildcat Felis silvestris is one of our least known mammals. We know nearly nothing about its distribution in Czech republic. We even can not say, if it really occurs in our country. This paper should enrich Czech language literature about information about this carnivore and so extent knowledge available for interested experts and layman. This way it might raise interest in research and field work on this species. The concept of this work is an introduction to distribution of wildcat, so it deals with phylogenetics and phylogeography, which is related to recent European range. It summarizes cat domestication, an issue important for understanding of hybridization chapter. The determination chapter is essential for practical field works and conservation efforts, similarly as the notes on spatial activity and environmental demands. The work at all should be a base for following studies and research of wildcats in the Czech republic. ÚVOD Zpracování bakalá řské práce jako literární rešerše o ko čkách divokých bylo p řirozeným pokra čováním mého úsilí, které už od roku 2005 v ěnuji sbírání poznatk ů, pozorování a extenzivním terénním pr ůzkum ům. Ko čky divoké, a čkoli jde o pom ěrn ě velké zví ře, jsou jakýmsi fantomem českých les ů, protože o jejich výskytu v České republice můžeme říct v sou časnosti velmi málo. Ojedin ělá pozorování, ke kterým neexistují spolehlivé d ůkazy, jsou nedostate čným podkladem pro vytvá ření jakýchkoliv opat ření na ochranu tohoto kriticky ohroženého druhu (dle zákona č. 114/1992 Sb. a vyhlášky MŽP č. 395/1992 Sb). Čím to je, že je jim u nás v ěnováno tak málo pozornosti? Je to snad tím, že u nás skute čně nežijí, nebo jsme se zatím po řádn ě nerozhlédli? 6/44 4. CÍL PRÁCE Cílem práce, bylo p řehledn ě zpracovat množství p ředevším cizojazy čné literatury, kterou jsem shromáždila v pr ůběhu n ěkolika let z nejr ůzn ějších zdroj ů. Vzhledem k nedostatku české literatury o ko čkách divokých, doufám, že tato práce p řisp ěje k rozší ření znalostí jak odborné, tak laické ve řejnosti. Snad také podnítí v ětší zájem a p řitáhne pozornost k tomuto z mého pohledu u nás zanedbávaného druhu. 7/44 5. FYLOGENEZE ČELEDI FELIDAE Podle Johnsona et al (2006), mají soudobé taxony kočkovitých šelem, osídlující dnes všechny kontinenty s výjimkou Antarktidy, sv ůj p ůvod v pozdním Miocénu. Za p římého p ředka ko čkovitých je považována ko čka Felis attica jejíž nálezy pocházejí ze západní Eurasie cca před 9 milióny let (dále zkratkou Ma). Hlavní skupiny (dále v textu popisovány jako linie) byly založeny b ěhem krátké doby mezi 10.8 a 6.2 Ma. Divergence v rámci linií pak prob ěhly v pozdním Miocénu až Pliocénu 6.4 až 2.9 Ma a byly s nejv ětší pravd ěpodobností ovlivn ěny eustatickými pohyby sv ětové hladiny oceánu, která v té dob ě dosahovala o 90 až 100 m výše než je tomu dnes. Porozum ění evolu ční historii a stanovení taxonomické nomenklatury u ko čkovitých je pom ěrn ě obtížné p ředevším kv ůli rychlé radiaci, nedostatku rozlišovacích znak ů na zubech a kost ře, paralelní evoluci a chyb ějícím fosilním záznam ům. Genetické analýzy podle Johnson et al (2006), vy čle ňují 8 linií: Panthera, Bay cat, Caracal, Ocelot, Lynx, Puma, Leopard, Domestic cat (názvosloví nemá český ekvivalent). Chronologie

Here we 13 reassess the affinities of a felid from the early upper Miocene of Turkey, known by well-preserved 14 associated upper and lower dentitions. The fossil-bearing deposits were deposited during the third stage of the Messinian Sa- linity Crisis (5.55-5.33 Ma) in connection with the ‘Lago-Mare’ event. Sedimentological evidence indicates that the deposition of this Formation originated in a variety of fresh- and brackish-water environments. This is the most diverse Late Miocene faunal community found in NW Italy up to now, and includes remains of fish (cyprinodontiforms and putative lophiiforms), amphibians (bufo- nids, ranids), reptiles (testudinids, geoemydids, lacertids, anguids, varanids, agamids, amphisbae- nians, scolecophidians, colubrids), birds (galliforms, accipitriforms and strigiforms) and mammals (proboscideans, perissodactyls, artiodactyls, carnivores, insectivores, rodents and lagomorphs). The tetrapod assemblages are consistent with the late Turolian age inferred based on sedimentological evidence and indicative of an open, semi-arid woodland savanna with at least modest, sparse fresh and brackish water bodies. The Verduno fossil assemblages share faunal similarities with coeval ones of southwest, central, and eastern Europe, as well as of peninsular Italy. Located at the crossroads between the two sides of the Mediterranean, northwestern Italy witnessed faunal exchanges between the different corners of the European continent.

Synopsis of the terrestrial vertebrate faunas from the Middle Kura Basin (Eastern Georgia and Western Azerbaijan, South Caucasus). Acta Palaeontologica Polonica 63 (3): 441–461. This paper summarizes knowledge on the Neogene–Quaternary terrestrial fossil record from the Middle Kura Basin accumulated over a century and aims to its integration into the current research. This fossil evidence is essential in understanding the evolution of the Eurasian biome, since this territory is located at the border of Eastern Mediterranean and Central Asian regions. The general biostratigraphic framework suggests existence of two major intervals of the terrestrial fossil record in the area, spanning ca. 10–7 Ma and ca. 3–1 Ma, and points to an important hiatus between the late Miocene and late Pliocene. General aspects of the paleogeographic history and fossil record suggest that the biogeographic role of the Middle Kura Basin has been changing over geological time from a refugium (Khersonian) to a full-fledged part of the Greco-Iranian province (Meotian–Pontian). The dynamic environmental changes during the Quaternary do not depict this territory as a refugium in its general sense. The greatest value of this fossil record is the potential to understand a detailed history of terrestrial life during demise of late Miocene Hominoidea in Eurasia and early Homo dispersal out of Africa. Late Miocene record of the Middle Kura Basin captures the latest stage of the Eastern Paratethys regression, and among other fossils counts the latest and the easternmost occurence of dryopithecine, Udabnopithecus garedziensis, while the almost uninterrupted fossil record of the late Pliocene–Early Pleistocene covers the time interval of the early human occupation of Caucasus and Eurasia.

(ed.), Geology, mammals and environments at Akkas ¸ dag ˘ ı, late Miocene of Central Anatolia. Geodiversitas 27 (4) : 567-589. ABSTRACT Volcanic ashes in Akkas¸ dag˘ ı (Turkey) have yielded well preserved remains of late Miocene Carnivora belonging to three families. The Hyaenidae are the most abundant. Adcrocuta eximia , a very common large animal, and Ictitherium viverrinum were first described from the Greek locality Pikermi. The type specimen of Hyaenictitherium wongii has been found in China but KEY WORDS the species is also present in European or Western Eurasian localities. Mammalia, Carnivora, Thalassictis spelaea and cf. Thalassictis sp. are less common but they were Hyaenidae, recovered from several European localities. The felid Felis cf. attica is a cat Felidae, Mustelidae, which is similar in size to Leptailurus serval ; its type locality is Pikermi but it late Miocene, has also been found at some other sites in Europe and Asia. Another, larger Turolian, felid is known from some limb bones. Skunks are not very common in Asian Akkas¸ dag˘ ı, Central Anatolia, or European fossil localities.
