SPECIAL POSTMARKS, RELATED TO "EUROPEAN INTEGRATION" Member Theo Rosenbrand is disposing of his vast holding of Europa related covers. He has promised a 10% discount from the listed prices to Europa Study Unit members and 10% of the net proceeds to the Unit. So if you are looking for those special items, now is your chance. Mr. Rosenbrand can be reached at 88 Chaixlane, Saint Helena, CA 94574. Mr. Rosenbrand wrote that “...There are an enormous number of special cancels related to "EUROPA". Mr. Micheli Picardi organized these in the D'URSO catalog. Unfortunately the last edition was in 1971 with a supplement in 1974. I own-a 1965 catalog, however Mr. Don Smith was so kind to send me his 1971 & 1974 on loan. It takes some time to get used to the catalog and find what you are looking for. The postmarks are listed in Sections, from "A" (= Council of Europe) to "Z". I followed that system as good as I could. Then for the items I have after 1974, they are listed by country by date of issue. Mr. Picardi valued the cancels from "1" , (= up to $-.50) to "10" (over $32.00). In my humble opinion some of the cancels are a bit far fetched to belong to "European Integration", but then again: who am I to differ of opinion with Mr. Picardi! I am a long time member of the ESU, I am not sure when I was actually accepted as a member, but my membership number is 151. And, I would have been one of the Char- ter members, if my application had not been rejected due to my dealer status! Yes,- that's correct - at that time a dealer was not welcome - luckily there was a change of mind! So, let me get started and see what I can make of it! Most covers are with cachet, some are blank enve- lopes and I listed these with "NC."

Beginner’s column - COVERS FROM FRIENDS Two recent packages of “Europa” enve- lopes, one from Uwe Kensing of Luxem- bourg, and the other from Elizabeth Gra- ham of England, prompted me to write this column. Both correspondents sent a bunch of “Europa” covers and they are so diverse, I want to share them with you. First, from Uwe Kensing come these covers:

German postal stationery envelope with Euro ca- chet and Europa symbols.

German cancel depicting the TEE - Trans Euro- pean Express Train.

And these 5 covers franked correctly with a single use of a Europa stamp. German cancel depicting the legend of “Europa and the Bull” commemorating a Europa Prize. From Elizabeth Graham come these cov- ers and cards, all showing actual uses of Europa stamps.

And these 8 covers franked with Europa stamps.
