It was first mentioned centuries ago, in 448, and with the remains and traces of antique [thermae - public baths ll cent.] and early Byzantium period it has been keeping its tradition and uniqueness. Saint Proust noted once down in 1768 that its bathroom in open was like the one in Budim. Even rice was grown here once. During the 30s of the last century, Banja started to develop intensively and methodically. Lights appeared in 1925, many famous people built their villas, promenades and parks were arranged comfortable hotels were built and trams came from Nis all the way there in 1929. Niska Banja heals coronary and blood vessels diseases, increased blood pressure and rheumatic disorders. It also offers the treatment of orthopedic injuries, body weight control, anti - cellulite treatments and postoperative rehabilitation. The Institute Niska Banja is completely equipped with modern devices and has excellent medical staff specialized in medical up-to-date approaches. Niska Banja puts every single effort during summer period, which is the most intensive part of the year, when almost 1000 tourists, picnickers and guests come here, to offer many opportunities for fun, relaxing and refreshing through various programmes offered always within, so-called, Spa cultural sport summer. Existing of Riding club in Niska Banja, that stands for one of the most respectful and the best organized in the country, makes available the watching of attractive programmes in the area of this popular and traditional sport. "The international gathering of original achievements" is a famous and authentic Serbian manifestation that page 2 / 9 has coloured the whole spa's atmosphere for more then a decade. Niska Banja is not only a spa but also a place for one active vacation, filled with various sport activities. Football terrain, concrete terrain for other types of football, tennis terrains, sports hall and a cavalry menage, the trim track stretched to Koritnjak village. They are all good for sports, walking and conditional trainings. We are suggesting, to those who like warm Niska Banja water, the closed pool in Radon hotel. You can find in its hotel complex fitness club, gym, sauna as well as double-tracked automatic bowling alley in Ozren hotel.... Serbia Serbia has connected West with East for centuries a land in which civilisations, cultures, faiths, climates and landscapes meet and mingle. It is located in the centre of the Balkan Peninsula, in southeastern Europe. The northern portion belongs to central Europe, but in terms of geography and climate it is also partly a Mediterranean country. Serbia is landlocked but as a Danube country it is connected to distant seas and oceans. Serbia is a crossroads of Europe and a geopolitically important territory. The international roads and railway lines, which run through the countrys river valleys, form the shortest link between Western Europe and the Middle East. From the agricultural regions of the Pannonian Plain in the north, across the fertile river valleys and orchard-covered hills of umadija, the landscape of Serbia continues southward, gradually giving way to mountains rich in canyons, gorges and caves, as well as well-preserved forests.
