I can’t wait for them to pick us up and have season 10. FT: What so you think it is, what is your magic, what is your secret sauce? Because, there are so many shows that get cancelled before they even get to like the fifth episode. LG: Oh, you know, for us it’s the dynamics of the Gold family. You know, you have me as the father, Ashley and Seth trying to learn the business. You have the dynamics of my 50 employees and the thousand people that walk to the door each and every day. So, each one of those thousand people plus my employees, plus my family, the stories are sometimes unbelievable. FT: I interviewed you about a year ago. I flew to Detroit, came to your store, which by the way, folks, you have to visit. Okay, I know Detroit right now is going through some reparation but if you do make it there, it’s an amazing, amazing city and your store is a must stop. And, when I was there we talked a lot about how, you know obviously your store attracts a lot of people because of the show but in your business, you get to see it all.

This case involves Viacom’s abuse of its market power over access to commercially critical networks – its highly popular Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, BET, and MTV networks – to force Cablevision to license and distribute over scarce bandwidth some dozen other Viacom networks, which Viacom calls Suite Networks, that many Cablevision subscribers do not watch and for which Cablevision would prefer to substitute competing networks. Viacom strong-armed Cablevision into carrying Suite Networks by threatening to impose a near $ billion penalty if Cablevision licensed only the Viacom networks Cablevision wanted, networks Viacom calls its Core Networks. Stated differently, unless Cablevision agreed to distribute Viacom’s Suite, Cablevision would pay nearly as much for just the Core (which includes commercially critical networks) than for the Core and Suite 1 Case 1:13-cv-01278-LTS Document 9 Filed 03/07/13 Page 2 of 60 combined. To rectify the IKk ofprevious studies on modem comedies, this study analyzes socioeconomic class representation on sitcoms that have aired in the last JS years by taking a sample ofseven shows and comparing the estimated cost of characters' residences to the amount of money they would likely earn in their given profession. 1be study showed that modem situation comedies misrepresent socioeconomic class by portraying characters living in residences well beyond what they could afford in real life.
