The regular meeting of the Grimes City Council was called to order by Mayor Mikkelsen on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 5:30 P.M. at the Grimes City Hall. The Pledge of Allegiance was led Mayor Mikkelsen. Roll Call: Present: Johansen, Gisch, Hamp Absent: Altringer and Burger AGENDA ITEMS. Approval of the Agenda Mayor Mikkelsen asked for approval of the agenda. Fire Department Report Fire Chief Clark stated there were 227 calls across all districts with the following breakdown between stations: Station 37 – 52 calls, Station 38 Grimes District -14, Johnston District -50, Station 39 -98 calls, and mutual aid – 13 calls. He stated that EMS calls were 158 or 69.6% of the calls, fire and other calls were 69 or 30.4%. Chief Clark added the annual pancake breakfast was very successful with serving 1980 people and raising $23,000 for the Association. He added that currently there are 13 locations that would be selling fireworks this year. 6. Patrol Report Polk Deputy Krum from the Polk County Sheriff’s Department was present to update the Council on the department’s activities. He advised there were 1,114 traffic stops the past month. Council Member Gisch stated that he liked the new FB page that the department had created providing information to residents. Council Member Hamp agreed this was great addition. 7. Library Update – Cheryl Heid Library Director Cheryl Heid was present to address the Council on facility needs. Heid also advised that she had recently completed the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute Program. Council Member Hamp congratulated Heid on completing the leadership program and complimented her on the adventures passes. Council Member Gisch addressed out undersized the current facility is. Mayor Mikkelsen the Council will be looking at this issue in the coming months. 8. Girl Scout Presentation on the Butterfly Garden at Grimes Public Library Library Director Cheryl Heid stated this project contained a patio and landscaping outside of the library. She added this project was done by the girl scouts, public works and an outside contractor. Public Works Director Weston Wunder stated the girl scouts planted around 92 perinanal plants and 20 shrubs. Heid thanked everyone involved for such a great addition to the library. 9. Presentation - Rich Lang and Audrey Tran Lam on Good Neighbor Iowa Program Audrey Tran Lam of the Center for Energy and Environmental Education at the University of Northern Iowa addressed the Council regarding the Good Neighbor Iowa Program. She advised the Council this program is about Iowa leaders who are committing to pesticide-free lawn management to protect child health and water quality. Public Works Director Weston Wunder stated this is something that could be done at the library grounds and looked at next year for the community garden. Council Member Gisch stated this would be great for outreach programs in the City. PUBLIC AGENDA A. Heritage Commercial – Preliminary Plat Josh Trygstad, Civil Design Advantage, 3405 SE Crossroads Drive, addressed the Board on behalf of Hy-Vee Inc. requesting approval of the Preliminary Plat for Hope Commercial. Trygstad stated this is a 104 acre parcel located on the corner of Highway 141 and 1st Street. He stated this parcel has 4 commercial lots and 3 out lots. Trygstad said NE Gateway Drive would be extended as part of this project to connect 1st Street with Heritage at Grimes to the north. Trygstad stated that Gateway Drive would be 37-ft wide with a center turn lane. Trygstad said the sanitary sewer and water would be extended with this project and they are proposing a 12-inch water main along NE Gateway Drive to connect with an existing 12-inch water main at SE Gateway Drive and Kum and Go per the comprehensive plan. Trygstad stated access for this site will be a Right in- Right out drive located along 1st Street with another entrance located off the future NW Gateway Drive. City Engineer Gade stated he had no issues with the plat and that Planning and Zoning had approved the preliminary plat. Moved by Johansen, Seconded by Gisch Heritage Commercial Preliminary Plat; subject to FOX Engineering letter dated May 30, 2018; shall be approved. Roll Call: Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion passes: 3 to 0. B. Public Hearing on the Proposed Amendment to the Grimes Urban Renewal Area Moved by Hamp, Seconded by Johansen to open the Public Hearing at 6:10 pm. There being no oral or written comments the hearing was closed at 6:10 pm. C. Resolution 06-0318 to Approve Urban Renewal Plan Amendment for the Grimes Urban Renewal Area Moved by Johansen, Seconded by Hamp; Resolution 06-0318 to approve the Urban Renewal Plan Amendment for the Grimes Urban Renewal Area; shall be approved. Although initially conceived in the novel form, the Bildungsroman has since found expression in various media. This thesis expands the scope of the genre by describing the “sonic Bildungsroman,” or coming-of-age album, and exploring a few key examples of this previously undefined concept. Furthermore, the record as a medium affords musicians narrative agency critical to their identity development, so this project positions the coming- of-age album squarely in the tradition of the Bildungsroman as a tool for self-cultivation. This thesis examines two albums in great detail: Pure Heroine by Lorde and Channel Orange by Frank Ocean. In these records, Lorde and Ocean lyrically, musically, and visually portray their journeys toward self-actualization. While the works show thematic similarities in their respective presentations of the adolescent experience, Lorde and Ocean craft stories colored by their unique identities. In this way, the two albums capture distinct approaches to constructing coming-of-age narratives in album form, yet both represent foundational examples of the genre due to their subject matter, narrative trajectory, and careful composition. From this basis, this project offers a framework for understanding how popular musicians construct coming-of-age stories in their albums—and for understanding how these stories affect us as listeners.

The difference between feminism from other social movement is feminism focusing on gender and how it relates to the oppression of women all around the world. Female empowerment is the movement to make all the feminist goal to happen. Without female empowerment, feminism goal will not be achieved because, if women do not march to empower others, how can others understand what women want, what women have been through, what equal rights are if not properly given the understanding if women do not speak up and women do not 1 fight for it. Female empowerment is to empower other people. To invite all people, to fight together for their rights, to fight for equality. Empowerment enables them to take control of their lives, and their rights. Besides, organize to help each other and make demands on the nation to back and support their movement and for the society for a change of men perspective of women.
