Program (Monday- extended day on Thursday) Thursdays (9:00 am - 3:00 Our rising 9th and 10th grade students will participate in daily SEL, team-building activities, and pm) academic extension activities liKe case challenges and building competitions. Our rising 11th and 12th grade students will participate in SEL, college-readiness, and community service opportunities to prepare for graduation and beyond. While the 80 Session I: 2 two weeK full Day 10:00 am - 2:00 pm tier system looKs differently at Ballou STAY, we Know that our 9th graders generally struggled 7/12/2021 Program with virtual learning and did not attend classes this past year. Additionally, students that were Session II: new to Ballou STAY in the fall of 2020 never had an opportunity to meet teachers and staff in 7/26/2021 person. These students missed the most valuable secret ingredient for success at Ballou STAY, building a relationship meaningful relationship with a caring adult. The primary objectives for our summer focus include the following: Providing students with an enriching experience to introduce them to the Ballou STAY Way, develop habits of success, and create meaningful relationships with peers, teachers, and staff. Students will be reintroduced to Bard DC climate and culture, with a focus on relationship building and building blocKs of success (skills needed for academic success). Students will engage in academic projects, practice habits of successful early college students, engage in field trips, spend time relationship building, have community service opportunities, and preview overall academic expectations for the school year. Students will leave Summer Acceleration Academy with a clear understanding of how they will meet their academic, social emotional, and post secondary goals during the 2021-22 academic year. 8 Barnard ES 205 4 4 Grace Reid (202) 576-1100 430 Decatur St. Barnard Elementary School will convene its Summer Acceleration Academy on July 12, 2021 215 7/12/21 Three WeeK Full-Day (Pre-K4) 8:30 am - 1:00 NW serving Pre-K4 (8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Kindergarten through the Fifth Grade from 8:30 Program pm (K-5) 8:30 am - 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The morning sessions will be dedicated to unfinished academic learning pm based on the power standards, and the afternoons will be committed to social emotional learning, clubs, outdoor learning, and projects in our attempt to reacclimate students to 9 returning to school in the fall semester. We will do this by designing joyful and authentic experiences that support language development, physical development, and academic development. This group of students will spend 2 weeKs attending a full school day Program with K-5 staff members from their upcoming grade level for SY 21-22.
