Race Report: Rd4 – Snetterton 300 15-17 June Description Powered by…… RACE REPORT: RD4 – SNETTERTON 300 15-17 JUNE DESCRIPTION Snetterton race circuit underwent a major redevelopment over the winter of 2010 with the track transformed to become one of the best in the UK through a combination of rider exhilaration, spectator entertainment and safety. The 3-mile Snetterton 300 incorporated a completely new infield section of approximately 1 mile integrated with a revised version of the original Snetterton circuit. Snetterton 300 is the newest circuit in the UK and the second longest in the country, and has been designed as an international circuit. Rushby takes positives from a strong finish at Snetterton despite a qualifying nightmare Snetterton has been a destination that has brought some of the best memories to date of Jordan’s racing career. Lest we forget, Jordan’s back to back overall victories on this fast open circuit during the Thundersport 600 days. This time round the bike is a different animal and the circuit layout is the newest in this country meaning Jordan would arrive as a rookie despite his race CV. This round followed a return to Thundersport GP1 action as Jordan joined the grid at Cadwell Park claiming a double podium with strong third place finishes amongst an experienced grid. It was a confidence boosting weekend with Jordan collecting trophies which gave him the hunger to return to BSB focused Qualifying on moving forward on the timesheets. Jordan showed strong progress in the timesheets as he got to grips with the new circuit layout through the two practice sessions. Finishing the second session with a time of 1:53 and slotting into P28 the feeling was positive heading into Qualifying. Motorsport can bring the greatest rewards following months of hard work but pull the carpet from underneath at a drop of a hat in the same breadth. Jordan would begin the session on the previous tyre for the first three laps and come in for a fresh rear to push on. Jordan clocked a 1:54 on the first lap but the second flying lap, with the new rear tyre coming in, had a coming together with another bike he was passing. The result saw Jordan end qualifying early without registering a lap time to challenge the bikes ahead. Although Jordan didn’t get chance to improve on his time he managed to qualify in P38. The team worked tirelessly to repair the bike and by early evening it was ready for the following days warm up with Jordan focused on plenty to do from the back. Race Day As Jordan lined up, uncharacteristically, on row 13 looking ahead to some of the finest riders, on 1000 machinery, this country has to offer. A strong start to stay trouble free would help build momentum in a long race ahead but as the lights went out it became clear that the BMW S1000RR beneath Jordan would not want to be ridden at race pace. Jordan knew there was an issue immediately and began learning how he could maintain balance on the bike whilst still keeping with the pack ahead. It was arguably Jordan’s most difficult race yet rewarding with more seat time in difficult conditions at a new circuit amongst the elite. No less than 13 riders wouldn’t make the full race distance for various reasons so the whole team where overjoyed and proud to see Jordan cross the line in P25 to end a difficult race weekend that has only brought us all together to continue to fight to progress through this grid. A reflective mood swept the camp as the sun set at Snetterton. Its safe to say this was not the best weekend of racing for the team overall. Jordan was the first to say sorry to the team for the crash in qualifying Saturday, these things do happen in racing and more so frustrating when its out of our hands. Jordan was quick to say “The team worked faultlessly again all weekend, they worked so hard to get me back out on the grid. I couldn’t repay their work in the race.” The clocks had to be replaced following the crash and they needed calibrating to the ecu which was impossible trackside. Due to the road setting, as default, the bike was almost unrideable meaning to look back on the final result of P25 with another race finish in BSB on a brand new circuit was not so bad after all. It goes without saying.. Bring on Knockhill !!! 2018 CALENDAR Alongside our 2018 calendar we have multiple options available to compete at some of the largest events across the globe.
