The History Of The histoy of Tea Camellia Sinensis, the common tea plant, was first cultivated in China from weed seeds which were brought from India. Tea was consumed in the big country for approximately 5 thousand years, but remained completely unknown to the West, until the 13th century, until Marco Polo started his trips to the East. A myth going back to 2737 b.C deals with it’s true discovery. The emperor “Shen Nung”, a great connoisseur of herbs and scholar was resting under a tree, while his servants were boiling water for his bath. When the leaves of a tree -a wild tall bush- fell into the boiling water Tea was created. The earliest reference to Tea in Europe appears in 1559 b.C. The unknown beverage first came to the € 8* Mediterranean with the Arabs and through the Venetians was spread everywhere. We also offer delicious sweets and savories and invite you to take a moment to relax: This is Chado. Chado is pronounced “sado” in Japanese. It comes from the Chinese words CHA (“tea”) and TAO (“way”) and translates “way of tea.” It refers not just to the Japanese tea ceremony, but also to an ancient traditional practice that has been evolving for 5,000 years or more. Tea is quiet and calms us as we enjoy it. No matter who you are or where you live, tea is sure to make you feel better and more civilized. No pleasure is simpler, no luxury less expensive, no consciousness-altering agent more benign. Chado is a way to health and happiness that people have loved for thousands of years. In 1993, Reena Shah and her husband, Devan, acquired Chado and began quietly revolutionizing how people in greater Los Angeles think of tea.

Welcome to the Mark T. Wendell Tea Company’s 2020 Catalog As one of the country’s oldest and storied tea importers, the Mark T. Wendell Tea Company has been providing fine teas to tea enthusiasts for over a century. We are pleased to offer a full range of estate grown specialty teas, signature tea blends, herbal and fruit tisanes, imported packaged tea brands, as well as a wide selection of uniquely crafted teapots and tea brewing accessories. Our philosophy is to select and purchase only the highest quality whole leaf teas from tea gardens and tea importers located around the world and to offer them to tea enthusiasts with a distinct focus on each customer’s satisfaction. The remarkable world of healthy and invigorating specialty teas has never been so accessible! Importing our tea offerings over the past year has been challenging on several fronts, all unprecedented in recent memory. Our government’s implementation of an import tax on Chinese teas left us with varying price increases on not only teas from China, but many teas produced in other countries. There is no replacement for authentic Chinese teas, so we have tried to minimize these sharp price increases as best we can without sacrificing the quality that stands behind our brand. New for 2020, our focus on quality and ingenuity has allowed us to represent two unique British tea brands as their US distributor. With fun flavors and eco- friendly packaging, the range of Hampstead Organic & Biodynamic Teas and We Are Tea offerings now spotlight our imported packaged brand selections.

On 3 May 2017, TWG Tea Company Pte Ltd (“the applicant”) applied to register CARAVAN as a trade mark under number 3228461. The mark was accepted and published in the Trade Marks Journal on 15 September 2017 in respect of the following goods: Class 30 Tea; black tea [English tea]; flavourings of tea; tea-based beverages; fruit flavoured tea; fruit tea; beverages with tea base; rooibos tea; herbal tea; chai tea; green tea; Japanese green tea; oolong tea (Chinese tea); aromatic teas; beverages made of tea; iced tea; tea bags; tea extracts; tea essence; tea for infusions; spices; sugar; chocolates; chocolate bars; pralines; edible ices; ice cream; sorbets (ices); ice desserts, confectionery; cakes, pastry; macaroons (pastry); pastries; biscuits; cookies, aromatic preparations for pastries. 2. Unilever Plc (“the opponent”) opposes the trade mark on the basis of sections 3(1)(b), 3(1)(c) and 3(1)(d) of the Trade Marks Act 1994 (“the Act”). The opposition under each of these grounds is directed against all of the goods of the application. The opponent’s claims are as follows: i) Under s. 3(1)(b), that “CARAVAN” cannot fulfil its essential function because, when viewed in connection with the applied-for goods, “CARAVAN” will be perceived as a referring to a common type of tea (“Caravan tea”). This is a sign used by other traders in the everyday course of their business to describe a type of tea and/or tea-related products which have a particular style or flavour; ii) Under s.
