Whilst there are no shops or pubs here, there is a Baptist Church, a regular bus service to Market Bosworth and Leicester and a post box. In the 18th century Barton in the Beans was an important centre for the Baptist Church and the minister at Barton was the notable clockmaker Samuel Deacon (1746-1816). The population in 1830 was 177 and the village has seen limited growth since and therefore retained it's appeal as a small hamlet.
