STUDENT UNION PROJECT HAS BEGUN! President 0 . P. Kretzmann made the following announcement to the student body at Chapel on May 10th: "Construction will begin this week" on the $800,000 student union building. The contract calls for com­ pletion of the building by January 20, 1955. Dr. K retzmann said that the university has negotiated a 50 percent loan for the $800,000 proje ct. Un iversity stude nts have raised about $130,000 for the union through asse ssment of fees which was started five years ago. It is hoped that the 1955 Guild Convention can hold its session and banquet within the new student union building!
