Distribución del género Sachasaura. ....................................... 112 vi RESUMEN Proctoporus es un género de lagartos de hábitos principalmente semifosoriales, que habitan los bosques montanos, pastizales húmedos y valles interandinos de la vertiente oriental de la Cordillera de los Andes. Los primeros estudios filogenéticos moleculares resolvieron las relaciones filogenéticas y propusieron rearreglos taxonómicos. Sin embargo, estudios filogenéticos moleculares más recientes, basados en muestreos más amplios de especies, mostraron indicios de la polifilia de Proctoporus, lo que concuerda con la divergencia morfológica existente entre sus especies. En este estudio, se obtuvieron 69 terminales adicionales de Proctoporus y especies afines, de las cuales se obtuvieron cuatro marcadores mitocondriales (12S, 16S, Cytb, ND4) y un marcador nuclear (c- mos). Se realizó un análisis filogenético de inferencia Bayesiana (IB) y se realizó una revisión de especímenes de Proctoporus, depositados en colecciones científicas de Perú y Bolivia. Los resultados obtenidos en este estudio confirman la polifilia de Proctoporus; se demuestra que este género está conformado por cinco linajes altamente soportados, algunos de los cuales están más relacionados con otros géneros de gimnoftálmidos, tres especies (Proctoporus lacertus, P. laudahnae, P. guentheri) fueron recuperados en diferentes linajes, Euspondylus caideni fue anidado con Proctoporus chasqui y P. sucullucu fue anidado con P. lacertus. Con base en la filogenia y la revisión morfologica, se proponen los siguientes rearreglos taxonómicos: se resucita al género Opipeuter, vii se erigen cuatro géneros nuevos (Alejandrosaurus sp. nov., Incasaurus gen. nov., Perusaurus gen. nov., Sachasaura gen. nov.), se resuelve la polifilia de P. lacertus, P. laudahnae y P. guentheri, se sinonimiza a Proctoporus chasqui con P. caideni y a P. sucullucu con P. lacertus, se transfiere a Pholidobolus anomalus al género Cercosaura y Cercosaura manicata boliviana es validada como buena especie y nombrada como “Cercosaura manicata boliviana” incertae sedis. The first molecular phylogenetic studies resolved phylogenetic relationships and proposed taxonomic rearrangements of Proctoporus. However, recent molecular phylogenetic studies, based on a broader sampling of species, suggested the polyphyly of Proctoporus, which is consistent with the morphological divergence among its species. Abstract: A comprehensive and up to date summary of the literature on the helminth parasites of lizards and amphisbaenians from South America is herein presented. One-hundred eighteen lizard species from twelve countries were reported in the literature harboring a total of 155 helminth species, being none acanthocephalans, 15 cestodes, 20 trematodes and 111 nematodes. Of these, one record was from Chile and French Guiana, three from Colombia, three from Uruguay, eight from Bolivia, nine from Surinam, 13 from Paraguay, 12 from Venezuela, 27 from Ecuador, 17 from Argentina, 39 from Peru and 103 from Brazil. The present list provides host, geographical distribution (with the respective biome, when possible), site of infection and references from the parasites. PADIAL,2 JUAN CARLOS CHapaRRO,3 SANTIagO CasTROVIEJo-FiSHER,4, 5 AND IgnaCIO DE LA RIVA1 ABSTRACT The genus Proctoporus comprises seven montane species distributed across the Central Andes of Peru, Bolivia, and northern Argentina. Within this genus, the extensive morpho- logical variation observed in populations traditionally assigned to Proctoporus bolivianus suggested the presence of additional species. Using a combination of morphological character differences and a phylogenetic hypothesis based on mitochondrial (12S, 16S, and ND4) and nuclear (c-mos) DNA sequences, we find P. bolivianus to be composed of six distinct lineages. Among these, we name and describe herein Proctoporus carabaya, P. iridescens, and P. kiziri- ani and we resurrect the name Proctoporus lacertus. The remaining two lineages are also considered unnamed species and are referred herein as confirmed candidate species (CCS), which we refrain from naming due to lack of appropriate material. The new species is diagnosed by gracile habitus, smooth dorsal scales, an anterior supercil- iary that extends onto the dorsum, absence of loreal, three genials, 36–49 transverse dorsal scale rows, 23–28 transverse ventral scale rows, 0–7 femoral pores, absence of subocular-labial fusion, and a color pattern consisting of dark spots or fine lines or bands on a pale brown background. Petracola waka is known from the middle Río Marañon and Cajamara- Cajabamba basin (Río Crisnejos drainage) from small isolated syngamic systems at 2650–2900 m and is parapatrically distributed with respect to P.

Abstract. The cloud-forests of the Western Ecuadorean Andes are highly diverse and under threat from anthropogenic habitat disturbance. Reptiles are sensitive to habitat change and are therefore useful indicators of ecosystem state, although effects vary. Overall diversity has been shown to be highest in old-growth (primary) forest however recent studies suggest that older secondary forests can recover to near pre-disturbance levels. We systematically surveyed leaf-litter lizard diversity along a gradient of disturbance in a montane cloud-forest fragment whilst controlling for the potentially confounding effect of elevation. We deployed 21 pitfall trap-lines equally between primary forest, secondary forest of mid-age (18-30 years), and agroforestry, between three altitudinal bands, for ten days each, over a period of three years. 1 We investigated diversity patterns using Chao 1 and 2 indices (estimated richness), effective species number (ESN), relative abundance of individual species, relative abundance of pooled species, and observed species richness. Parasite communities of two Nineteen Alopoglossus angulatus (mean snout–vent length [SVL] = 42.1±13.4 mm, range 24–60 mm) and 16 A. lizard species, Alopoglossus atriventris (SVL = 36.9±9.2 mm, range 21–48 mm) were angulatus and Alopoglossus borrowed from the herpetology collection of the Sam No- ble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History (OMNH) and atriventris, from Brazil and examined for helminths.
