Applicants must have earned an AS degree in either Accounting Technology or Business Administration. Carlos Ardila Psychiatric nurse for Florida State Hospital

Carlos Ardila was among the first to earn his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from DSC in May 2015, an achievement that opened a door to new opportunities.

Today, Ardila, is a forensic psychiatric nurse, working at Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, under contract with the state’s Agency for Persons with Disabilities Departmental Disabilities Defendant Program. He specializes in managing offenders with psychological, social and behavioral disorders, assessing and selecting patients for treatment and providing rehabilitative care and supervision.

Having always been a shy girl in school, Gonzalez credits the BSED professors for her success. “My professors gave me all the tools I needed to complete the bachelor’s degree, and it was my job to open up that toolbox and take out all the resources and strategies that they taught me so I could implement them in the classroom. They cared and they pushed me to go in front of the classroom and give my presentations, with no judgment or anything, which was awesome for me.”

Well into his 40s, Stacey Robinson decided to enroll in DSC’s School of and earned his GED in 2013. With that accomplishment, his drive and determination kicked in.
