CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES School board approves $54k track bid TERRICA HENDRIX Editor

MINERAL SPRINGS – After welcoming new board member, Joann Walker, the school board accepted a bid of $54,500 to repair the Mineral Springs track. The Mineral Springs Saratoga School District ac- cepted Dawson Asphalt and Sealing, Inc. bid Tuesday evening. The lone bid, which was the only bid, comes from the company “who originally built it [track],” Superinten- dent Max Adcock said. The track will be restriped and two more layers of rubber will be installed, according to the bid. Adcock estimated that “the track will be done in March and ready for all track meets in April.” The board authorized Steve Dixon, with the transpor- tation department, to spend up to $93,000 on school buses to replace the oldest buses in the fleet. The board gave Adcock permission to apply for a revolving loan to purchase the buses. Mineral Springs Ele- mentary Principal Jeanine Gorham, Mineral Springs High School Principal Davey Jones and Saratoga Campus Principal Julie Sheppard were rehired, along with Inez Gentry and Toya Gilgreen. Gentry will be the Sara- toga custodian while Gil- green will be the custodi- an at Mineral Springs. The board voted unanimously for the rehires.
