Legoland Florida is a 145-acre, full two- day interactive family theme park specifically designed for families with children ages 2 to 12. It features more than 50 rides, shows, and attractions, restaurants, shopping, a breathtaking botanical garden and a water park. The park has had very strong attendance and, although the park does not release attendance figures, attendance at the six Legoland parks worldwide rose by 33 percent, from 7.9 million to 10.5 million, in 2012. Estimates put the annual attendance figures for the Winter Haven location at over 1.5 million annually. The park has expanded twice already, first opening a water park and later a new “signature land” called the World of Chima. The Central Florida Visitor’s Center reports that 25% of their ticket sales are for the Legoland theme park. Legoland has recently completed its third expansion to the park and opened its Lego-Themed hotel in 2015. By May of that same year, they had already sold 40% of the inventory available through the end of year at a rate nearly triple the County’s average ADR. There is a strong demand for modern hotels, as over 70 percent of the hotel rooms in the area are substandard. Legoland Area Commercial Development Site Directly Across From Legoland Main Entrance Winter Haven, FL http://www.winterhavenchamber.com/blog/cypress-gardens-corridor-study-debrief “Dr. Harris notes 6 key findings from his work studying the corridor: 1. The corridor TODAY could support at least 240 net new limited service hotel rooms given the existing demand (editorial note: this number is disputed by people in the industry as too low given the other drivers such as the increase demand in sporting events and business industry growth, but remember that's TODAY. See next line) 2. There is a significant demand that could be captured such that the need for hotel rooms could exceed 1,200 net new rooms by 2025. ” - Cypress Gardens Corridor Study Debrief – 10/20/2015 http://www.orlandosentinel.com/travel/attractions/legoland/os-legoland-hotel-opens-20150513-story.html “The hotel's opening completes a significant shift from a day attraction to a multiday destination, Jones said. Initial hotel bookings indicate there was demand for that change. Already, the park has sold nearly 40 percent of the available inventory from now until the end of the year.” - Caitlin Dineen – 5/13/2015 Legoland Area Commercial Development Site Directly Across From Legoland Main Entrance Winter Haven, FL Michael Lewin Sales Associate PH: 561-236-5391 E: [email protected] Note: All information contained herein was obtained from sources we consider to be reliable. Specifically, it focuses on how the creator of the park, Dick Pope, created his park after his own idealized vision of the state, and how he then promoted both his park and Florida as one and the same. The growth and later decline of Cypress Gardens follows trends in Florida’s growth patterns and shifts in tourism. This study primarily uses a combination of newspaper sources and promotional pictures and other media from the park to explain how Pope attempted to make Cypress Gardens synonymous with Florida.

  • World's Top 30 Indoor Entertainment Centers Pt 1
World’s Top 30 Indoor Entertainment Centers: Part 1 Major Theme Parks Are Going Indoors Anchored by Shopping Malls, Hotels, Waterparks & Casinos; KidZania is fastest-growing in edutainment By Jeff Coy, ISHC June 1, 2013 --- When you think about Six Flags, Sea World or Cedar Fair, it is typically an outdoor experience during summer when kids are out of school. But now, major theme parks and amusement parks are going indoors --- where they can attract visitors 365 days a year and not worry about poor weather wiping out profits. Indoor theme parks are not new, but there is a surge of new development. The first large-scale indoor amusement park, Galaxyland, built in 1985, was a giant success with 400,000 sf of amusements and thrill rides inside West Edmonton Mall in Alberta, Canada --- combined with a 355-room hotel and a 217,000 sf indoor waterpark. It seems Galaxyland continues to have a lot going for it --- satisfying numerous requirements for success. Galaxyland, ranked 6 th largest in the world, was soon followed by Lotte World’s Adventure Indoor Theme Park with 871,000 sf in Seoul, Korea. Then came Adventuredome at the Circus Circus hotel in Las Vegas and Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of American in Bloomington MN. But now we see the new indoor giants. First World Hotel at Genting 1 Highlands Casino Resort near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has a 500,000 sf indoor theme park. And Ferrari World, now ranked 2 nd largest, is an indoor theme park with 925,000 sf under roof that recently opened in Abu Dhabi.
