Siberian Husky Club of Middle Tennessee, Inc page 2 ENTRIES CLOSE WEDNESDAY, APRIL 14, 2021 6:00 pm (CDST) Introducing our Judges at Foy Trent Dog Shows LLC PO Box C, Sturgeon MO 65284 after which time entries cannot be accepted, cancelled, altered or substituted We have tried to select judges who you as exhibitors would like to show under. To except as provided for in Chapter 11, Section 6 of the Dog Show Rules. familiarize you with these judges in case you do not know them we are including a brief biographical sketch for each. PREMIUM LIST Our Saturday Sweepstakes Judge is Marti Rhyne – Anchorage, Alaska SPECIALTY SHOWS • UNBENCHED We got our first Siberian Husky in 1986. She was not a show dog. We got to know some of the local show people though and started showing in 1989. We got our first real show dog from Richlynn Siberians, Richard and Lynn Szymurski from New Orleans, in 1991. Siberian Husky Club We went to our first National in 1990, Orlando. What fun! And a tradition was begun. I’ve been to of most Nationals since then. Over the years we’ve bred about 5 litters with 7 home grown champions. Almost every litter goes back to our Ramey, Ch. Cadohi’s Red October. Middle Tennessee, Inc. We moved to Alaska from Texas in 2009 to start mushing. We are very much a recreational team, no American Kennel Club Licensed Shows Iditarod race in our future, but we have loads of fun and have learned even more about our breed. And occasionally we actually mush on parts of the Iditarod trail. Our Judge for the Saturday show is Jessica Breinholt – Willow Alaska I began in Siberians at the age of 10, when I talked my parents into letting me bring a puppy home from a racing Siberian kennel in our mountain neighborhood. Within a few years I was not only racing a team, but competing in jr. showmanship and obedience with my first AKC-registered Siberian, Tigger (Kaylenberg's Frosty Tiger CD, CGC). Later came my first conformation champion (Am/Can Ch. Tamerlane's Carpe Diem CD, CGC), followed by multiple homebred and owner-handled champions. After a hiatus from sled dog racing to attend college and establish my career as a technical writer, I returned to competition and have completed SHCA Sled Dog degrees on almost half my current kennel. I have spent most of my life dedicated to this breed both as a musher and a breeder-owner-handler, and I believe we who love and strive to preserve the Siberian Husky are fortunate to have a dog that can still capably perform its original function. As a judge, I am thrilled by the opportunity to find and th th 27 and 28 Independent Specialty Shows reward the many sound, beautiful animals our breeders have to offer. Thank you for giving me the AKC National Owner Handled Series opportunity! Our judge for the Sunday show is Sherry Webster – Bartlett TN The first Samoyed came to our home in 1970. We have enjoyed the company of Samoyeds since Show 1 - Saturday, May 1, 2021 2021507701 then. Other than Samoyeds, we have owned and shown Pembroke Welsh Corgis. My show career started in 1979 as Peppermint Samoyeds. Over the years we have enjoyed showing our dogs with Show 2 - Sunday, May 2, 2021 2021507702 our two daughters, Amy and Holly (both former Junior Handlers), and now with our two grandchildren, Brandon and Kaylee. Amy recently showed our group winning special, CH GCHB Frostyacres Peppermint Rokete Rexann (Tapit). I became an AKC approved judge in 1997 and am currently approved to judge the Working Group, Nashville Dog Training Club Herding Group and Sporting breeds. It has been an honor to judge specialties and internationally 413 Allied Drive also. As founding member of the Greater Shelby Kennel Club in the Memphis area, I am currently serving as a board member and a member of the judge selection committee. • How to Get an AKC® Number So Your Dog Can Earn an Official Title
We’ve Got Your Number! How to Get An AKC® Number So Your Dog Can Earn an Official Title To compete or earn AKC titles, your dog must have AKC number. We create titles at AKC by attaching the title to the dog’s number. This number can be one of 3 types: 1. an AKC registration number (your purebred dog has “papers.” You would have gotten these from the breeder), or, 2. a PAL Number (Purebred Alternative Listing) for purebred dogs of AKC breeds with no papers (such as rescue or shelter dogs), or, 3. an AKC Canine PartnersSM number for mixed breed dogs, or dogs otherwise ineligible for AKC registration such as purebreds from other countries that are not AKC recognized breeds. All dogs can enroll in the AKC Canine Partners program. For PAL (which used to be called ILP), see: www.akc.org/reg/ilpex.cfm For AKC Canine Partners, see: www.akc.org/canine_partners/ Where do AKC dollars go? AKC uses your registration dollars for many public education initiatives including promoting responsible dog ownership. All of the competing registries are for-profit companies. • Created and support the AKC Canine Health Foundation, which funds research projects focusing on the genetics of disease, the canine genome map, and clinical studies. AKC has donated more than $15 million to the Canine Health Foundation since 1995. • Award $240,000 in scholarships annually to veterinary and veterinary technical students and youths active in the sport of purebred dogs. • Conduct approximately 5,000 kennel inspections annually to ensure the integrity of the AKC registry and monitor care and conditions at kennels across the country.

  • Local Events 2012
Local Events 2012 Thanks you to all the clubs and dog organizations that hosted AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day events this year. With over 630 events reported to us from across the country, the celebration was a huge success! Below, please enjoy some event recaps and photos submitted by some of our event holding clubs and organizations. Abilene Kennel Club Abilene Kennel Club had many breeds on hand for the public to meet. Deacon Mark Main from St. Francis Church performed a Blessing of the Animals and the club also offered CGC testing, microchipping, obedience demonstrations and a demo from the Abilene Police Department K-9 Unit. A Humane Society volunteer ran fun games like “find a hot dog in a stinky old shoe.” -MaryJane Dewitt, RDOD Chairman Arapahoe Kennel Club Arapahoe Kennel Club held its 6th Annual Bark in the Park and Responsible Dog Ownership Day on September 16, 2012. This year, the club offered demonstrations of agility, flyball, dancing dogs, obedience, rally, Junior Showmanship, and K9 nosework. Along with all these demonstrations, breed clubs and individuals participated in a Meet the Breed demonstration as well. There was breed representation from most of the groups. A local Police K9 unit attended as did the Alie Foundation. The Alie Foundation was created by Richard Berrelez to honor his granddaughter who was kidnapped. They donate dogs and equipment to local police departments to help find other missing people. Arapahoe KC also had a very popular kids booth where coloring books, clay, and instruction on how to approach dogs and dog responsibility were available.
