It’s an industry which is projected to generate around £5 billion for the local economy this year. It is a major exporter of premium quality and innovative products to over 80 countries worldwide. Indeed over 60% of Northern Ireland food and drink is currently exported. Food and drink in Northern Ireland has won international acclaim for outstanding food and drink over many years. Northern Ireland is now among the biggest suppliers of food and drink to all retail sectors in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland as well as most foodservice organisations in both markets. Award Winning Flavours The quality and innovation that has long underpinned Northern Ireland food and drink has led to many international awards especially, for outstanding taste. These include the prestigious Great Taste Awards organised annually by the UK Guild of Fine Food, the Blas na hÉireann (Irish Food Awards), the Irish Quality Food and Drink Awards and the Quality Food and Drink Awards.
