Microfiche at end of volume EDITORIAL The Hampshire Field Club and Archaeological Society accepts articles for publication in the Proceedings on the county's natural history, geology, archaeology, history, historic buildings and industrial monuments. The subject editors are very willing to discuss and give advice on prospective articles before they are submitted for consideration by the Editorial Board.

Publication of an article in the Proceedings does not imply that the Field Club endorses the views expressed, and, although the Editorial Board obtains independent professional opinions on each article, the factual content and the opinions given remain the responsibility of the individual authors.

Articles intended for publication in the Proceedings should be sent to the HFC Editorial Board, c/o John Oxley, God's House Tower, Winkle Street, Southampton, from whom 'Instructions for Contributors' can also be obtained. The Editorial Board meets each May to consider articles for the volume to be published in the following calendar year.

Corrigendum In Volume 41, figures 13 (p. 179) and 16 (p. 182) of the article 'Foxcotte, a Hampshire hamlet' were incorrectly credited to the author, Dr A. Russcl. They should have been credited to R. Sheppard, and the Hampshire Field Club apologises for the transmission of this error.

The Editorial Board gratefully acknowledges the financial assistance of the following bodies towards the costs of producing this volume:- Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission (for Nicholls, Ashbee, Ellison & Rahlz, Fasham), Council for British Archaeology (for Crook), Hampshire County Council (for Faskam, local history articles), District Council (for Fasham), Winchester City Council (for Whinney, Crook, Morris), Borough Council (for Ranger), Southampton City Council (for Cole), Polytechnic (for Afton), King Alfred's College, Winchester (for Ranger, Roberts).
