THE TIDE ADDS FOUR FOR 2020 • Four gymnasts - Emily DeSantis, Makarri Doggette, Mary Orosco and Kam Ryan - are set to join the Tide for the 2019-20 school year. • A six-time state champion, Emma DeSantis is coached by Cynthia Dedeaux and Alysha Talley at the Brook-lin Center. A fi ve-time Region 8 qualifi er, she has posted nine top- 15 fi nishes at the Region 8 Championships. A Magna Cum Laude, 2019 Mississippi Scholars and Mississippi Honors Graduate at South Jones High School, she is the daughter of Mandy and Robert DeSantis. • A four-time member of the USA Junior Olympic National Team, Makarri Doggette is a nine-time USA Junior Olympic National Champion, including two all-around titles, Doggette is coached by Kittia Carpenter, Li Li and Gabe Milam at Buckeye Gymnastics. She won the national J.O. titles in the all- around and all four individual events in 2018, while also winning the all-around, vault and fl oor exercise in 2017. Doggette is just the second gymnast in history to win all four individual events and the all-around at the J.O. national championships in the same year. The Pickerington, Ohio, native is a member of the National Honor Society. A senior at Pickerington Central High School, she carries a 3.8 cumulative grade point average. She is the daughter of Rebeckah and Cecil Doggette. • The 2018 Alamo Classic uneven bars champion, Mary Orosco is coached by April Pyle, Chris Brashier and Beatrice Mihaila- Crivineanu at Empire Gymnastics. A native of Arlington, Texas, she is a three-year regional qualifi er. An honor-roll student at Martin High School, she is the daughter of Mary and Eric Orosco. • A two-time Louisiana state champion, Kam Ryan is the 2018 Louisiana Junior Olympic State all-around and vault champion, She is coached by Hillary Hebert, Toby Barentine and Randy Scott at Elmwood Gymnastics Academy. A member of the USA Level 9 National team, she was also fi rst alternate for the USA Junior Olympic National Team. The Luling, La., native is a member of the National Honor Society and has served as class president and student council president as a junior and senior. The Hahnville High School Student of the Year as a senior, she was earned the Tulane Book Award and was selected to Louisiana Girls State. She is the daughter of Brandy and Mike Ryan.
