It seeks to influence patterns of development, the quality of our environment, where we choose to live, work and shop and our means of travel. It reflects the Council’s vision for using the planning process in a positive and proactive way to shape the development of the District. It seeks to balance meeting the local economic and social interests of residents and businesses with protecting our environment and natural resources. The First Deposit Draft of the Local Plan Review was published for comment in January 2002. The District Council considered the 4000 or so representations that were submitted at that time and published a Revised Deposit Draft Plan in January 2003. A Public Inquiry into objections was held between November 2003 and July 2004. The Inspector’s Report was published in April 2005. The Council considered his recommendations before publishing proposed modifications for comment in October 2005 and further modifications in March 2006. Comments received at the modifications stage were considered by the Council before it resolved to adopt the Plan. It should be noted that the Plan was prepared to be in conformity with the Warwickshire Structure Plan 1996- 2011 (WASP). In September 2004, the West Midlands Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) became part of the Development Plan. On the issue of housing provision in particular, the approach taken in the Local Plan Review has been adjusted to reflect the requirements of the RSS. The Regional Planning Body has confirmed that the Local Plan Review is in general conformity with the RSS. Explanatory text in the Plan has been updated to reflect new circumstances such as the Regional Spatial Strategy and national policy and guidance contained in Planning Policy Statements. However, it is not practical to do this in a comprehensive manner and it will be necessary to take into account current national and regional policy when considering planning applications and other proposals. This Plan was adopted by the District Council on 14 July 2006.     Memories Of Bidford, 1950 onwards. By Bob Marshall My Earliest days I was born on Thursday, May 25, 1950 May at 7 Steppes Piece, Bidford on Avon. As I was told later, it rained all of that day. My parents were Walter and Doris Marshall. My father was a ganger on the railway and he worked between Broome Junction and Harvington, and Broome Junction and Alcester. My mother was a housewife and I had two older sisters, Doreen and Muriel. My grandparents, William and Agnes Marshall lived at house called Copernic in Victoria Road. My grandfather had been a regular soldier in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He had fought in the Boer war and the first world war, reaching the rank of company Sergeant Major. After the war he became publican of the Kings Arms in Beoley Road Redditch and then in 1932 at the Golden Cross, at Ardens Grafton. My grandmother had worked Masons Arms in the high Street, Bidford. My mother's parents were Albert and Florence Reeves and they lived in Victorian cottages at the bottom of Alcester Road now called Waterloo Road. That side of the family originated from county Cork in Ireland. Steppes Piece where I was born was built in the 1930s and consists of 30 houses. Many are now privately owned but in those days they all belonged to the rural district Council. During my early years, the houses were occupied by the following families; 1. Bert and Renne Horne 2. Sid and Mrs Reade. 3. Mr and Mrs Nicholls. 4. Mr and Mrs Wright 5.

    Staff and Pensions Committee 8 June 2020 Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service Health, Safety and Wellbeing Annual Report 2019 - 20 Recommendation That the Staff and Pensions Committee considers and comments on the report 1.0 Introduction 1.1 This is the annual Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service (WFRS) Health, Safety and Wellbeing Report for the year ending March 2020. The report covers performance against several key Health, Safety and Wellbeing indicators and measures and identifies any emerging themes. 1.2 WFRS continues to have a dedicated Senior Health and Safety Advisor and Watch Manager (operational) to provide guidance, advice and support to all departments and managers; this reflects the unique and high risk activity of the Service. The competent advice, provided by the department ensures the service is legally compliant and that managers at all levels are aware of their corporate and individual responsibilities, along with any potential areas of vulnerability. WFRS work closely with their five regional fire partners to share learning and best practice to improve health, safety and wellbeing standards across the region. Warwickshire County Council as the Fire Authority has a statutory duty to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of their employees so far as is reasonably practicable. 1.3 The main requirements which the Service must meet are set out in several complementary pieces of legislation and guidance which include: - 1.4 The Fire & Rescue Services Act 2004 The Act states that Fire Authorities must make provision for dealing with fires, road traffic accidents and other emergencies and identifies the need for adequately trained and equipped personnel.
