KDKB, PHOENIX, AZ M.D.-J.DAVID HOLMES: "KDKB brought Del Shannon into town last night and raised the roof with a very special guest star, Tom Petty, at a local club here. The audience was wild and seemed to be very receptive to Del's new music...Also last night on the air, we had a special program called 'Remembering One Year Later', a two-hour tribute to John Lennon that I co-wrote and produced with the KDKB midday man, Larry Hayes. Phone response was very good for it, and we'll be repeating it this Sunday afternoon right after the Rolling Stones concert here in town...We're proud to be a part of the Stones concert with George Thorogood opening. We're inviting our listeners to come down to an instore Saturday night and meet Thorogood...Looking at: The new Tubes 12"...Strongly considering: Peter Cetera, Bob Weir, and the new Kinks single...Phones are heavy for: Loverboy, Rick Springfield, Cars, and J.Geils Band... I'd like to wish everyone in the business and their families a wonder Christmas and a very prosperous New Year." WFYV, JACKSONVILLE, FL M.D.-CHARLIE LOGAN: "Record of the week: Joan Jett. A week late but you can list me with all the other believers. 'I Love Rock And Roll'--nothing could ever be a better image song. At first listen to the Christmas 12"--I laughed at Little Drummer Boy'! I went away smirking cute, real cute. Then I put on the Lp ,and 'I Love Rock And Roll' hit home with me. It blew me away, so I put it on again and cranked it up. I was hooked! On it went a third time and by the time it ended, the police were banging at my door telling me I'd have to get a permit to have this type of party. All I can say is the lady's long overdue plus she has sincerity and conviction comparable only to Chrissie Hynde. So, watch out Miss Spandex Benatar. This is fresh, clean, fun rock and roll...Adds: ! Ever since this Lp came out months ago I've been real high on 'Lonely Nights'---One of my ten favorite Lp's of 19811 Bryan Adams has all it takes to stick around. A writer and performer with a distinctive sound all his own. This Lp has stuck around and is re-emerging now because of one reason--it's all in the grooves...In the spirit of the holidays me've added the tinsel to our musical tree, Springsteen 12", Billy Squier's Christmas 45, and the new single from Yes-men Chris Squire and Alan White...Saleswise: AC/DC at #1 and Rush at #2 for the second straight week; J. Geils at #4; Loverboy #7; Molly Hatchet moves 16-14 (surprisingly too, reaction to this record, being this is their hometown) and,U2 debuts at #20. We are getting excellent phones everytime we play 'I Fall Down'. The Lp is starting to sell through. If you're not playing U2 yet, you're missing out on the brightest new 'band of the 80's... Finally, to Bill, Susan and staff of FMQB, enjoy your vacation. To everyone else from both _Rad and myself, have a happj. and safe holiday! Get ready because 1982 is going to be one helluva year!" WPYX, ALBANY, NY M.D.-RON NENNI: "A good day from the best comedy TV show, SCTV's Bob and Doug McKenzie. And it's the best comedy album for our audience! How can they miss with Geddy Lee on 'Take Off'! Send down some bradors so we can get loaded, eh?...A couple of things deserve a shot before '82. The Kiss record is not to be ignored. Why be afraid of good music? 'The World Without Heroes' is a h-i -t! To alleviate any image problem, we're back-selling it as music from 'The Elder'...Among the slew of metal, 'Silver Lady' is the cut for us from Starfighters. It will stand out as a balance song... Of course AC/DC is exploding...Encouraging progress on the following albums on sales and requests: Henry Paul Band, Joan Jett, John Hall, Neil Young, Molly Hatchet, and Greg Lake is up to #13 in sales... Outstanding response to Bryan Adams 'You Want It You Got It', 106-second record run promotion. There were over 6,000 entries. As the sleeper of the year everyone is finally waking up! We're confident that Bryan Adams will happen in '82...We'd like to thank everyone for a great year in music and support of PYX 106...May all the acts that deserved to break in '81, do it in '82...Happy Holidays. Now I can give my ears a break!"

WSYR, SYRACUSE/UTICA, NY M.D.-TOM NAST: "Okay you hoseheads, we've been playing 'Take Off' by the McKenzie Bros. for about two weeks, ell! All I can tell you is if you don't play this one) you're real lame ducks, eh! Tell you what--get a couple of cases of cold ones, put the record on your stereo, eh, have a friendly game of beer hunter. I guarantee after that you'll add this to your playlist, eh. 'Great White North' will be the biggest comedy Lp of 1982, hands down! Just remember Moser rhymes with hoser...The Joan Jett record goes on this week. It's gritty rock and roll and since I used to have nocturnal emissions about Joan when she was in the Runaways, I figured I'd play this one. Already some retail interest on this one...The Starfighters cut 'Silver Lady' is the kind of song that will pull great phones after some solid airplay...Remember Saxon, drugs, and rock and roll? Play it loud and get some great nighttime phones...AC/DC starting to fly out of the stores now! It started slow, but it's moving great now...Bryan Adams picks up sales consistently every week. Bryan is no doubt the best new vocalist of 1981.. .Hey, Jon Scott when can we bet on another hockey game? Hope 1982 shows you continuing with your great conference calls...If any radio station in the Northeast or anywhere has a hockey team and wants to play our 94 Rockets, let me know."

WAQX, SYRACUSE, NY P.D./M.D.-ED LEVINE: "The Joan Jett album is infinitely better than her debut! Last night we featured it and on top of the album doing very well (8.6 on a 10 scale), it got twice the response of any album we have featured in thé last 2 weeks, incTaing the AC/DC...The Bob and Doug McKenzie is absolutely a natural, as close as we are to Canada. By the way, did you know how they named Canada? They just started spelling it out 'C eh? N eh? D eh?' The Geddy Lee connection may make it stick across the country...Speaking of canucks, I'm happy to report that Bryan Adams goes into heavy airplay this week. Judging by people's comments last week many share our commitment to Bryan. Glad to see the ranks of his supporters growing...Also wanted to mention that the Foreigner album (due to the single) is making an incredible resurgence--#2 this week in retail...The J. Geils is outselling the new AC/DC by a mile--it is #6 retail. AC/DC doing very well at #9...1981 has been a very good year for 95X-- Two consecutive up books, and it has been a very satisfying one. Happy Holiday to everybody and talk to ya in 1982!.. .Personal Top 10 for the year: 'Tattoo You: Dan Fogelberg, Stevie Nicks, Foreigner, The Police, Journey, Billy Joel live...New Years resolution: To take as many record calls as possible! Just call on the right days damnit!" WQDR, RALEIGH, NC M.D.-BOB WALTON: "We finally added Bryan Adams and I'm more than happy to give this record a shot! I THINK IT DESERVES IT and I don't think it's going to disappoint us at all...The Eddie Schwartz record has gene beyond just a texture record. We're getting good calls, esp. female calls on the title track and 'Spirits Of The Night'. We moved John Hall up to heavy because of all the phone calls for it. Ditto with J. Geils band and the Police. Definitely our two hottest records, and our playlist is frozen til further notice (but we'll still take social calls)!" WCMF, ROCHESTER, NY M.D.-DAVE KANE: "G'day. How about those McKenzie Bros. eh? Beauty! We've been rolling since we first heard the record. There isn't a person at the station who hasn't called somebody a hosehead yet! We also have some real snappy ID's that Doug and Bob did for us. Beauty, eh? 'Take Off' and '12 Days Of Christmas' have already got the little hosers calling us all the time... Besides the McKenzie's we also added Starfighters, Adam And The Ants, and Clash 12"...By the time this issue hits the newsstands we will be finishing up the 12 days of AC-December. We've been giving away an AC/DC WCMF satin tour jacket for each of the 12 days before the 2 AC/DC shows on the 16th and 17th. Response has been overwhelming'...For Christmas we have a tree in the air studio and we are inviting listeners to place homemade decorations on it for which they will receive an album...Personals: Thanks to Renaissance for the on-air visit and spectacular show... Congratulations to Polygram's Alex Maye and his wife, qm12, on the birth of a blessed event. Beauty, eh?...And on behalf of myself and the entire staff of WCMF, we wish everybody the merriest of Christmases and a rockin New Year. G'day!"
