Phone response was very good for it, and we'll be repeating it this Sunday afternoon right after the Rolling Stones concert here in town...We're proud to be a part of the Stones concert with George Thorogood opening. We're inviting our listeners to come down to an instore Saturday night and meet Thorogood...Looking at: The new Tubes 12"...Strongly considering: Peter Cetera, Bob Weir, and the new Kinks single...Phones are heavy for: Loverboy, Rick Springfield, Cars, and J.Geils Band... It blew me away, so I put it on again and cranked it up. I was hooked! All I can say is the lady's long overdue plus she has sincerity and conviction comparable only to Chrissie Hynde. So, watch out Miss Spandex Benatar. Ever since this Lp came out months ago I've been real high on 'Lonely Nights'---One of my ten favorite Lp's of 19811 Bryan Adams has all it takes to stick around. A writer and performer with a distinctive sound all his own. This Lp has stuck around and is re-emerging now because of one reason--it's all in the grooves...In the spirit of the holidays me've added the tinsel to our musical tree, Springsteen 12", Billy Squier's Christmas 45, and the new single from Yes-men Chris Squire and Alan White...Saleswise: AC/DC at #1 and Rush at #2 for the second straight week; J. Geils at #4; Loverboy #7; Molly Hatchet moves 16-14 (surprisingly too, reaction to this record, being this is their hometown) and,U2 debuts at #20. We are getting excellent phones everytime we play 'I Fall Down'. The Lp is starting to sell through. If you're not playing U2 yet, you're missing out on the brightest new 'band of the 80's...     Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.

Bryan Guy Adams was born on 5th November 1959 in Kingston, Canada, but his parents were originally from the United Kingdom. Bryan Adams’ mother, Elizabeth Jane Adams, worked as a teacher and as a librarian. His father, Conrad J. Adams, was a military officer in the British Army, but when they moved to Canada in the early 1950s, he joined the Canadian Army and later he became a United Nations peacekeeping observer for Canada. Because of his father’s job, the family often had to change their place of residence. Thus, they lived in Portugal, in Vienna during the 1960s and in Israel during the early 1970s. The unpretentious Adams developed into the most popular Canadian artist of the late 80s and 90s, and remains known for many romantic ballads and classic rock songs like ‘Summer of ‘69’ and ‘Cuts Like A Knife’. Born in Canada of English parents, the young Adams grew up in a variety of countries as the son of a diplomat, mostly in Europe and the Middle East. His self-titled debut album was released in 1980, and was basically the launching pad for his second album, 1981’s “You Want It, You Got It” which scraped into the lower regions of the US charts and garnered one FM radio hit “Lonely Nights”. He spent most of 1982 on tour supporting the album with Foreigner (whose Lou Gramm guested on the forthcoming album), the Kinks, Ozzy Osbourne and Journey. A third album, “Cuts Like A Knife” released in 1983, was Adams’ breakthrough, reaching number eight and going platinum in the USA (although it did not chart in the UK until three years later). Adams had Bob Clearmountain co-producing with him and the two of them had assembled a great band, with Mickey Curry on Drums and Keith Scott on lead guitar (they are all still working together today). The first single from the album, “Straight From The Heart”, also made the US Top 10 and with the help of a new cable TV station called MTV, his two follow-up singles, “Cuts Like A Knife” and “This Time”, reached the Top 20 and Top 30 respectively.
