Xerox copies of all of the relevant documents are enclosed herewith and the same are kept ready in original to produce at the time of Peer Team visit. As per NAAC Fee Structure (w.e.f. 15th November, 2013) the institutions which are recognized under section 2(f) and 12B of UGC Act and receiving the developmental grants from UGC need not pay the assessment and accreditation fees. Our college is recognized under section 2(f) and 12B of UGC Act and we are receiving the developmental grants from UGC regularly, so we are not sending any assessment and accreditation fees. Stipulated by the affiliating University and/or 2. Regulatory Council/Body [such as UGC, NCTE, AICTE, MCI, DCI, BCI, etc.] and 3. The affiliation and recognition [if applicable] is valid as on date. In case the affiliation/recognition is conditional, then a detailed enclosure with regard to compliance of conditions by the institution will be sent. It is noted that NAAC’s accreditation, if granted, shall stand cancelled automatically, once the institution loses its University affiliation or Recognition by the Regulatory Council, as the case may be. In case the undertaking submitted by the institution is found to be false then the accreditation given by NAAC is liable to be withdrawn. Accreditation is the basis by which quality can be judged. Assessment is also very important and necessary tool for an educational institution to evaluate the extent to which it has achieved its objectives and to receive guideline for further strengthening of its performances. Having been greatly inspired by the assurance of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) that the quality enhancement of an educational system has to come from within and no amount of external audit and assessment can help directly, Shimurali Sachinandan College of Education, Shimurali, Nadia also subscribes to this view. Everyone in our institution is quality conscious, which helps in strengthening the self-esteem. A variety of curricular and co-curricular activities and learning experiences help learners to achieve their sequential optimum progress. Teacher education is essential for reforming and strengthening the education system of any country. A sense of intrinsic motivation has helped the members of our faculty, students, administration and the management in following the principles of vision for lifelong learning, strategies for learning skills, use of technology for easy learning, utilization of resources for maximizing facilities, enhanced organization for students support service, internal evaluation for remedial measures and improvement. All of us can realize that where we stand and what our merits and demerits are. The endeavour of our institution is a collective one. Actually, this self-assessment exercise is solely to articulate and inculcate quality consciousness among ourselves across the institution and not at all a cosmetic show to the outside world. Really, we are here in a strong bond family and every member of this family remains with a powerful belief that quality is the only way to succeed and sustain.     SELF STUDY REPORT Charles Freer Andrews (12.02.1871 - 05.04.1940) Baishnabghata, Garia, Kolkata 700084 Submitted to National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Bengaluru, India for 2nd Cycle of Accreditation, 2015 From the Desk of the Principal inabandhu Andrews College, now a premier institution of higher education Dunder the University of Calcutta, was founded in 1956 by a decision of the Government of India [Letter No. BH-5(5)/55-Genl, dated 07.01.1956] to establish five new colleges on a sponsored basis for the higher education of the children of displaced persons from East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) who had settled at Jadavpur, Baisnabghata, Narkeldanga, Dum Dum and Bon- Hooghly. In pursuance of the decision mentioned above, the Government of West Bengal sanctioned the establishment of five new colleges on a sponsored basis for the said purpose (Government of West Bengal Order No. 7805-Edn, dated 24/25.07.1956) with affiliation to ‘Intermediate’ and ‘Degree’ courses in Arts and Science. The college at Baisnabghata was named after Rev. C.F. Andrews (12th February, 1871— 5th April, 1940) ), a noted educationist and close associate of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and Mahatma Gandhi, who had come to India from England as a Christian missionary and subsequently identified himself with the cause of social reforms and India’s independence. He earned the epithet ‘Dinabandhu’ for his compassionate services to the poor. (2) The Chairman shall be chosen from among persons who are not officers of the Central Government or of any State Government. (3) Of the other members referred to in clauses (iii) of sub-section (1)- (a) two shall be chosen from among the officers of the Central Government, to represent that Government.; (b) not less than four shall be chosen from among persons who are at the time when they are so chosen, teachers of Universities; and (c) the remainder shall be chosen from among persons:- (i)who have knowledge of, or experience in, agriculture, commerce, forestry or industry; (ii) who are members of the engineering, legal, medical or any other learned profession; or (iii) who are Vice-Chancellors of Universities or who, not being teachers of Universities, are in the opinion of the Central Government, educationists of repute or have obtained high academic distinctions. Provided that not less than one-half of the number chosen under this clause shall be from among persons who are not officers of the Central Government or of any State Government. (4) The Vice-Chairman shall exercise such of the powers, and discharge such of the duties, of the Chairman as may be prescribed.
