Solidarity - Tel Aviv Human Rights Film Festival 2019 feat. Born in Evin (5.-10.12.2019)

Jährlich lenkt das Solidarity Film Festival die Aufmerksamkeit seines Publikums auf gesellschaftspolitische und soziale Konflikte dieser Welt. 2019 wird u.a. die österreichisch- deutsche Koproduktion Born in Evin gezeigt. In diesem Dokumentarfilm versucht die iranische Schauspielerin und Regisseurin Maryam Zaree die Hintergründe ihrer Geburt zu durchleuchten: Nach politischen Unruhen und einem Machtwechsel im Iran wurden 1979 tausende Menschen in ihrer Heimat inhaftiert und gefoltert – darunter auch ihre Eltern, die ins Gefängnis Evin kamen. Dort wurde Maryam 1983 geboren. Nach der Entlassung floh die Familie nach Deutschland – und schwieg zu diesem dunklen Kapitel ihrer Vergangenheit.

Every year the Solidarity Film Festival draws the attention to socio-political and social conflicts in the world. The 2019 festival shows, among others, the Austro-German co- production, Born in Evin. In this documentary, Iranian actress and director Maryam Zaree tries to explore the background of her birth. Thousands of people were arrested and tortured in their homeland in 1979 after the political turmoil and change of power in Iran. Also Zaree’s parents were sent to Evin prison. Maryam was born there in 1983. Following their release, the family fled to Germany and kept this dark chapter of their life silent.

כל שנה מושך פסטיבל לקולנוע סולידריות את תשומת ליבו של הקהל שלו לסכסוכים חברתיים-פוליטיים וחברתיים בעולם. בין שאר הסרטים שיוצגו בפסטיבל בשנת 2019 ,תוצג הקופרודוקציה האוסטרו-גרמנית נולדה בכלא אווין. בסרט תיעודי זה מנסה השחקנית והבמאית האיראנית מרים זרי לחקור את רקע הולדתה. אלפי אנשים נעצרו ועונו במולדתם לאחר ההפיכה הפוליטית ושינוי השלטון באיראן בשנת 1979. זה כלל את הוריה של זרי שנשלחו לכלא אווין. מרים נולדה שם בשנת 1983. לאחר שחרורם ברחה המשפחה לגרמניה ושמרה שתיקה אודות הפרק האפל הזה בחייהם.

Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival feat. The Tobacconist (21.-26.12.2019)

Das Jüdische Film Festival Jerusalem zeigt Filme, die sich mit Themen rund um das Judentum auseinandersetzen. Im Rahmen der Programmschiene Tribute to Sigmund Freud ist der österreichische Regisseur Nikolaus Leytner mit seinem Spielfilm Der Trafikant vertreten. Er erzählt darin die Geschichte des 17-jährigen Franz, der während seiner Trafikanten-Lehre in Wien 1937 den später weltberühmten Psychoanalytiker Sigmund Freud kennen lernt. Es ist der Beginn einer ungewöhnlichen Freundschaft.

The Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival presents films that deal with topics related to Judaism. As part of the program line Tribute to Sigmund Freud, Austrian director Nikolaus Leytner is represented with his feature film The Tobacconist. The film tells the story of 17-year-old Franz, who during his tobacco- apprenticeship in Vienna in 1937, met the later world-famous psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud. It is a beginning of an unusual friendship.

פסטיבל הקולנוע היהודי ירושלים מציג סרטים העוסקים בנושאים הקשורים ליהדות. אחד מהסרטים המוצגים בתוכנית המחווה לזיגמונד פרויד הוא סרט של הבמאי האוסטרי ניקולאוס לייטנר שנקרא מוכר הטבק. הסרט מספר את סיפורו של פרנץ בן ה17-, אשר בתקופת ההתמחות שלו בנושא הטבק בווינה ב 1937, הכיר את מי שיותר מאוחר הפך לפסיכואנליטיקאי המפורסם בעולם, הלא הוא זיגמונד פרויד. זו תחילתה של חברות יוצאת דופן.

Film Programmers' Exchange: Israel - Austria (25.12.-31.12.2019, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv)

In der letzten Dezemberwoche 2019 fällt der Startschuss für den Austausch von österreichischen und israelischen Programmdirektoren. Eine Woche lang sind VertreterInnen des Filmmuseums Wien und des Moviemento Programmkinos Linz in Jerusalem und Tel Aviv zu Gast. Sie präsentieren ein abwechslungsreiches österreichisches Filmprogramm und geben Einblick in die österreichische Filmgeschichte.

The last week of December 2019 will be dedicated to the Austrian-Israeli Programmers' Exchange. For one week, representatives of the Film Museum in Vienna and Moviemento in Linz will present a varied Austrian film program in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem and provide insight into Austrian film history.

בשבוע האחרון של חודש דצמבר 2019 יצלצל הפעמון בכדי להשיק את תוכנית החילופין האוסטרית-ישראלית לעורכי תוכניות סרטים. במשך שבוע יתארחו נציגי מוזיאון הקולנוע בווינה ומקולנוע מובימנטו בלינץ, בהתאמה, בירושלים ובתל אביב. הם מציגים תוכנית מגוונת של סרטים אוסטריים ומטילים אור על תולדות הקולנוע האוסטרי.

Jeden Sonntag legt Amir Egozy, einer der angesagtesten DJs Israels, im Salon Romano auf. Anfang Dezember ist Giuseppe Leonardi vom niederländischen Label Second Circle Special Guest. Der Wiener präsentiert den Gästen des Romano sein neuestes Album Music from Memory.

Every Sunday, Amir Egozy, one of the trendiest DJs of Israel, puts his records on at Salon Romano. In the beginning of December, the special guest will be Giuseppe Leonardo from the Dutch Label Second Circle. The Viennese musician will present his latest album, Music from Memory to Romanos’s guests.

בכל יום ראשון משמיע אמיר אגוזי, אחד התקליטנים הטרנדיים בישראל, את תקליטיו בסלון רומנו. בתחילת דצמבר, יגיע ג'וספה לאונרדי, אורח מיוחד מהחוג השני של הלייבל ההולנדי. המוסיקאי הווינאי יציג לאורחי רומנו את אלבומו האחרון, מוסיקה מהזיכרון.

Piano Recitals with Hanna Bachmann (2.12.2019, Jerusalem; 3.12.2019, Akko)

Das Talent von Hanna Bachmann, 1993 in Vorarlberg geboren, wurde früh erkannt. Bereits mit zwölf Jahren kam die junge Pianistin ans Landeskonservatorium Feldkirch, später wechselte sie nach Wien, und 2011 nahm sie das Studium an der Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg auf. Mit ihrem technischen Können und ihrer Kreativität gewann sie zahlreiche nationale und internationale Klavierwettbewerbe und konzertiert nun in der ganzen Welt. Hanna Bachmann präsentiert in Jerusalem und Akko Werke aus ihrer Debut-CD, u.a. von Beethoven, Ullmann und Schumann.

The talent of Hanna Bachmann, born in 1993 in Vorarleberg, was recognized early. Already at the age of twelve, the young pianist came to the Landeskonservatorium Feldkirch, later moving to Vienna, and in 2011 she began studying at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. Pairing technical skills and creativity, she has won numerous national and international piano competitions and she now performs around the globe. Hanna Bachmann will perform in Jerusalem and in Akko works by Beethoven, Ullmann and Schumannn from her CD debut.

כשרונה של חנה בכמן, ילידת 1993 בפורארלברג, הוכר מוקדם. כבר בגיל שתים-עשרה הגיעה הפסנתרנית הצעירה ל לאקדמיה למוסיקה לאנדס בפלדקירך, לאחר מכן עברה לווינה, ובשנת 2011 החלה את לימודיה במוצרטיאום שבזלצבורג. בזכות כישוריה הטכניים והיצירתיות שלה, היא זכתה במספר תחרויות פסנתר באוסטריה ובתחרויות בינלאומיות וכעת היא מופיעה ברחבי העולם. חנה בכמן תופיע בירושלים ובעכו ביצירות מתוך דיסק הבכורה שלה, יצירות מאת בטהובן, אולמן ושומאן.

Viennese Ball - A Shiny Evening Full of Dance & Music (7.12.2019, Be'er Sheva)

Die Israel Sinfonietta Be’er Sheva veranstaltet gemeinsam mit der Vienna Tel Aviv Vocal Connection einen Operetten- und Tanzabend mit dem Titel Wiener Ball - Ein funkelnder Abend voll Tanz und Musik. Unter den SolistInnen sind der Bariton Paul Armin Edelmann und die Sopranistin Christina Maria Fercher aus Österreich. Der Abend ist Teil der Veranstaltungsreihe Klänge aus aller Welt.

The Israel Sinfonietta Be’er Sheva together with the Vienna Tel Aviv Vocal Connection cohosts an evening of operettas, titled Wiener Ball – A sparkling evening full of dance and music. Among the soloists are baritone Paul Armin Edelmann and soprano Christina Maria Fercher from Austria. This evening is part of the series of Sounds from around the World.

Recidency Program: Visiting Artist Lilly Pfalzer (1.12.-21.12.2019, Jaffa)

Im Rahmen von Tights: Dance & Thoughts verbringt die österreichisch Aktionskünstlerin und Choreografin Lilly Pfalzer eine Residency im ATAR - Jaffa Museum. Während ihres Aufenthalts wird Pfalzer einen Tanz- Workshop zu soziokulturellen Themen wie z.B. Kunstaktionen im öffentlichen Raum abhalten. Ein Vortrag über performative Strategien von Aktivismus wird ihren Aufenthalt in Israel abschließen.

As part of Tights: Dance & Thoughts Austrian performance artist and choreographer Lilly Pfalzer spends a residency at ATAR – Jaffa Museum. During her stay, Pfalzer will hold a dance workshop on socio-cultural topics like holding art activism in space. A lecture on the performative strategies of activism will conclude her stay in Israel.

במסגרת טייץ: מחול ומחשבה האמנית האקטיביסטית האוסטרית והכוריאוגרפית, לילי פפלצר, שוהה במשכן האמנים במוזיאון אתר ביפו. במהלך שהותה, מארגנת פפלצר סדנת ריקוד שמתמקדת בנושאים סוציו-תרבותיים, כמו למשל: קיום אקטיביזם בחלל.

Moriz Kopetzki: Lecture on Human Rights (19.12.2019, Haifa)

Anlässlich des Internationalen Tages der Menschenrechte am 10. Dezember findet an der Universität Haifa ein Vortrag von Moriz Kopetzki statt. Neben grundsätzlichen Themen wie Rechtsphilosophie und Gerichtsbarkeit bespricht der Wiener Jurist ausgewählte Konfliktfälle im Bereich des digitalen Rechts. Moriz Kopetzki ist Universitäts-Assistent am Institut für Europarecht und Internationales Recht an der Universität Wien.

On the ocassion of the International Day of Human Rights on 10 December, Moriz Kopetzki will hold a lecture at Haifa University. In addition to fundamental topics such as legal philosophy and jurisdiction, the Viennese law scholar will tackle selected cases in the field of Digital Law. Moriz Kopetzki is a University Assistant at the Institute for European and International Law at Vienna University.

Das Internationale Fotografie Festival PHOTO IS:RAEL zählt zu einem Highlight in der Fotografieszene Israels. Dieses Jahr widmet sich das Festival dem Motto Fantasy. Unter den zahlreichen internationalen AusstellerInnen ist auch der österreichische Künstler Robert Rutöd vertreten. Er präsentiert seine Foto- Ausstellung Fair(y) Tales. Ein Streifzug durch das groteske Reich der Must-haves und Megatrends. Rutöd nimmt die BesucherInnen mit auf eine Reise durch verschiedene Fachmessen und diverse Ausstellungsflächen. Es ist eine Welt der Attraktionen, in der es nichts gibt, was es nicht gibt.

The International Photography Festival PHOTO IS:RAEL is the highlight of Israel’s photography scene. This year the festival is focused on the theme Fantasy. The Austrian artist Robert Rutöd is among the numerous international exhibitors represented. He presents his photo-exhibition Fair(y) Tales. An Expedition through the grotesque realm of Must-haves and Megatrends. Rutöd takes the visitors on a journey through various trade fairs and different exhibition areas. It is a world of attractions where there is nothing that does not exist.

פסטיבל הצילום הבינלאומי PHOTO IS:RAEL הוא אחד משיאי סצנת הצילום של ישראל. השנה מתמקד הפסטיבל בנושא הפנטזיה. האמן האוסטרי רוברט רוטוד נמנה בין האמנים הבינלאומיים הרבים המיוצגים התערוכה. הוא מציג את תערוכת-הצילומים שלו FAIR(Y) TALE. מסע בתחום הגרוטסקי של המאסט-האבז ושל מגמות המגה. רוטוד לוקח את המבקרים למסע דרך ירידי סחר ואזורי תצוגה שונים. זהו עולם של אטרקציות בו אין דבר שאינו קיים.

Jonathan Monk: Exhibition Model Six - The Tel Aviv Version feat. Lisa Großkopf (12.12.2019 - 1.2.2020, Tel Aviv)

Die Auseinandersetzung mit und Neuinterpretation von Werken des 20. Jahrhunderts machte den Briten Jonathan Monk in den vergangenen Jahren zu einem bekannten Konzeptkünstler. In seiner Ausstellung Exhibition Model Six zeigt er u.a. Werke der jungen Wiener Künstlerin Lisa Großkopf, Absolventin der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Wien, die sich zu Studienzwecken auch in Israel aufhielt. Bei den Arbeiten ihrer Serie "What Is left" steht die Frage im Vordergrund, was von der zionistischen Vision des Kibbutz übrig blieb. Als Ausgangspunkt dafür dienten Werke des Kibbutz-Künstlers Yohanan Simon.

The confrontation with and the reinterpretation of works of the 20th century have made the British Jonathan Monk a well- known conceptual artist in recent years. In his exhibit Exhibition Model Six he shows, among others, work by the young Viennese artist Lisa Grosskopf, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, who pursued her studied also in Israel. In her series “What Is Left” she poses the question "What is left of the Zionist vision of the Kibbutz?" The starting point for her artistic approach was art work by Kibbutz artist Yohanan Simon.

העימות עם והפרשנות המחודשת של יצירות המאה העשרים הפכו את ג'ונתן מונק הבריטי לאמן רעיוני ידוע בשנים האחרונות. בתערוכת מודל שש שלו הוא מציג, בין היתר, יצירות של האמנית הווינאית הצעירה ליסה גרוסקופף, בוגרת האקדמיה לאמנויות יפות בווינה, שלמדה גם בישראל. בסדרה "מה שנותר" עבודותיה מציבות את השאלה בקדמת הבמה: מה נשאר מהחזון הציוני של הקיבוץ. נקודת המוצא שלה ביצירות אלה הן עבודותיו של האמן הקיבוצניק יוחנן סימון.

Holy Night! Silent Night! The Christmas Carol and its Message of Peace 200 Years after its First Performance (until 31.12.2019, Jerusalem)

Das in Oberndorf bei Salzburg entstandene Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht gilt als das weltweit bekannteste Weihnachtslied. 1818 wurde es erstmals in einer kleinen Kirche gesungen, und von dort aus eroberte es in den folgenden Jahrzehnten die ganze Welt. 2011 wurde das Lied von der UNESCO zum immateriellen Kulturerbe in Österreich anerkannt. Die Ausstellung im Österreichischen Hospiz gibt einen Überblick über die Geschichte des weltberühmten Liedes.

Silent Night, Holy Night, which was created in Oberndorf near Salzburg, is considered the most famous Christmas carol in the world. It was first sung in 1818 in a small church, and from there and then on it conquered the whole world. In 2011, the song was recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural heritage in Austria. הלילה השקט, הלילה הקדוש, שנוצר באוברנדורף ליד זלצבורג, נחשב לקרול חג המולד המפורסם ביותר בעולם. הקרול הושר לראשונה בשנת 1818 בכנסיה קטנה, ומשם ומאז הוא כבש את העולם. בשנת 2011 הוכר השיר על ידי אונסקו כמורשת בלתי מוחשית באוסטריה. התערוכה בהוספיס האוסטרי מציגה סקירה ההיסטורית כוללת של השיר המפורסם כל כך.

Fateful Choices: Art from the Gurlitt Trove (until 15.1.2020, Jerusalem)

Fateful Choices präsentiert etwa hundert Werke aus dem sogenannten Gurlitt Fund. Dr. Hildebrand Gurlitt war ein Museumsdirektor, Kunsthändler und -agent für das Dritte Reich. Die Ausstellung widmet sich diesem Fund, und stellt Kunstwerke aus, die Gurlitt während seiner Berufslaufbahn erworben hat. U.a. werden Malereien, Zeichnungen, Drucke von Manet, Monet, Renoir, Otto Dix, Georg Grosz, Max Beckmann und dem Wiener Künstler Oskar Kokoschka der Öffentlichkeit präsentiert.

Fateful Choices presents some 100 art works from the so called Gurlitt Trove. Dr. Hildebrand Gurlitt was a museum director, art dealer, and agent for the Third Reich. The exhibition explores this trove and showcases the diverse range of the works Gurlitt acquired throughout his professional career. Among other works, paintings, drawings, and prints by Manet, Monet, Renoir, Otto Dix, Georg Grosz, Max Beckmann and Viennese artist Oskar Kokoschka are displayed.

בתערוכה בחירות גורליות מוצגות כ100- עבודות מאוסף יצירות האמנות של גורליט. ד"ר הילדברנד גורליט היה מנהל מוזיאונים, סוחר אמנות, וסוכן ברייך השלישי. התערוכה חוקרת את המצבור ומציגה את המגוון הרחב של העבודות שאותן ליקט גורליט לאורך הקריירה המקצועית שלו. בין היצירות ניתן לראות ציורים, רישומים והדפסים של מאנה, מונה, רנואר, אוטו דיקס, ג‘ורג‘ גרוס, מקס בקמן, והאמן הווינאי אוסקר קוקושקה.

A New Age: The Spiritual in Art feat. Muntean/Rosenblum (until 2.2.2020, Tel Aviv)

Die Ausstellung A New Age: The Spiritual in Art widmet sich jener Kunst, die eine geistige Dimension des Daseins reflektiert. Wassily Kandinskys Essay aus dem Jahr 1912 Concerning the Spiritual in Art setzt einen historischen Anker zur zeitgenössischen Kunst, die das Mystische, Kosmische und Esoterische berührt. Ausgestellt werden die Arbeiten der spirituellen Künstlerinnen Hilma af Klint (1862‒1944) und Emma Kunz (1892‒1963), die glaubten, ein höheres Bewusstsein in ihrer Kunst zu kanalisieren, gemeinsam mit KünstlerInnen des 21. Jahrhunderts, darunter Muntean/Rosenblum (aka Markus Muntean & Adi Rosenblum) aus Österreich.

The exhibition A New Age: The Spiritual in Art turns a gaze at art that reflects a spiritual dimension of existence. Wassily Kandinsky’s 1912 essay Concerning the Spiritual in Art sets a historical anchor to contemporary art that touches upon the mystical, the cosmic and the esoteric. The works of the spiritualist artists Hilma af Klint (1862‒1944) and Emma Kunz (1892‒1963), who believed they channeled a higher consciousness in their art, are featured alongside 21st-century artists, among them Muntean/Rosenblum (aka Markus Muntean & Adi Rosenblum) from Austria.

התערוכה יש עידן חדש: על הרוחני באמנות מבקשת להפנות מבט לאמנות אשר מבטאת ממד רוחני של קיום, ממד שהודחק בסדר היום המודרניסטי, ושב והופיע בשליש האחרון של המאה ה20-, לא מעט בחסות העידן החדש. "על הרוחני באמנות", מאמרו של וסילי קנדינסקי מ1912-, משליך עוגן היסטורי לאמנות עכשווית שנוגעת במיסטי, בקוסמי ובאזוטרי. העבודות של הילמה אף קלינט (1944-1862) ואמה קונץ (1963-1892), שתי אמניות ספיריטואליסטיות שהאמינו שמוּדעוּת גבוהה יותר מדברת דרכן כשהן מציירות, מוצגות לראשונה בישראל. לצידם מוצגות עבודות של אמנים החיים ופועלים בתחילת המאה ה21-, ביניהן מונטאן/רוזנבלום (הידועות גם כמרקוס מונטאן ועדי רוזנבלום) מאוסטריה.
