Lyme disease is rare in Canada 2. Doctors treating Lyme disease effectively may face investigation and lose their medical license in Canada 3. Lyme disease, or Lyme borreliosis, is an acute bacterial infection 6. 2-4 weeks of antibiotics generally cures Lyme disease 7. Still, our claim to be the Green Coast may be disputed by David Coon (Leader, Green Party of New Brunswick) and Peter Bevan-Baker (Leader, Green Party of Prince Edward Island). With elected Greens in two legislatures and the P.E.I. Greens now in first place in province-wide polling with the highest-ever numbers of any Green Party in Canada — 38 percent! — they could certainly argue that the Atlantic is our true Green Coast.

    Gendered Partisanship: An Exploratory Study of Party Loyalty and its Impacts in Parliament Christine Guyot Parliamentary Intern, 2013-14 June 30, 2014 Ottawa ABSTRACT Ever increasing levels of partisanship in the House of Commons have contributed to a highly adversarial atmosphere where cooperation between MPs of different parties is difficult and rare. This study explores how various demographic factors such as an MP's age, tenure, political party and gender influence how they perceive and express partisanship. An online and paper survey was distributed to all MPs to determine the effects of these demographic factors on their goals and aspirations, their party loyalty and their cooperation and collaboration with colleagues from other parties. The results suggest that women are communicating and potentially cooperating and collaborating more with MPs from other parties. However, the results also suggest that women are expressing more partisanship than men by feeling a stronger need to toe the party line, by rarely voting against their party and by not experiencing any decrease in partisanship since first being elected. A case for gendered partisanship in the House of Commons is made.     TEAM CSSA E-NEWS - Mar 24, 2014 ** Please share this E-news with your friends ** COMMENTARY: GREEN PARTY OF CANADA SPEAKS OUT FOR GUN OWNERS In the spirit of non-partisan support for all federal parties who stand up for gun owners, it is notable that the Green Party of Canada may be building a bold policy platform to win our allegiance. Will it translate to votes and seats in the upcoming federal election? Green Party leader Elizabeth May, M.P. (Saanich-Gulf Islands) and recent Green acquisition Bruce Hyer, M.P. (Thunder Bay Superior North) are declaring their own war on the RCMP for the recent Swiss Arms and CZ- 858 rifle reclassification. For the first time in memory, the Parliament of Canada may have more than one political party competing for the firearms vote. After years in the political wilderness, are gun owners being presented with a choice? Should responsible firearms owners care that they are receiving new-found support from a party with only two M.P.s sitting in the House of Commons? Absolutely. May and Hyer are not your garden variety politicians. Both are capable of exposing the issues they endorse under the bright lights of public scrutiny. Perhaps the Green Party has been convinced to help us expose the unworkable Firearms Act. Elizabeth May was arguably the most effective speaker in past televised leadership debates, and is regarded as personable and open-minded by many House of Commons colleagues. She was named one of the world's most influential women by Newsweek in 2010 and voted Parliamentarian of the Year in 2012.
