The Pilgrim News Issue 15 – June – July 2018 Saint Botolph Saint Thomas Saint Christopher 17th June 3rd July 25th July Church Service Church Service Church Service St. Botolph’s Church St. Thomas’ Church St. Christopher’s Church 10.30am 7.00pm 7.00pm Peregrine Falcons at St Botolph’s church p6 Revd. Jane Robertson Writes... In his wonderful book ‘The Go-Between God’ John V. Taylor begins with the statement ‘The chief actor in the historic mission of the Christian church is the Holy Spirit. He is the director of the whole enterprise’. Taylor goes on to suggest that mission is what the Holy Spirit is doing in the world, and if we, as his church, are serious about mission we will join in. As a parish which tries to be outward facing, active in the community in order to live out the Gospel we proclaim, these words are pertinent to us. They are important and worth reflecting on. We are all frail, vulnerable human beings and it is so easy for us to get carried away with our own ideas. To become so busy working for the church or community groups that we forget to spend time with God. To try to do things in our own strength, not just as individuals but as a church, and then to lose sight of the risen Lord who must be at the heart of all we are and do. He is the one who binds us together, who inspires us and calls each one of us into the most important relationship in our lives and, in this post- resurrection world we live in, we experience the risen Lord through the Spirit.
