  • Tour De France - 11
• Tour of Britain ‐ 8A
Biomatematický model 2014: Tour of Britain ‐ 8a. etapa Tour of Britain, probíhající současně se závěrečným týdnem Vuelty končila dělenou etapou – dopolední časovkou na 8,8 km a odpoledním hromadným závodem. Nakonec mu ho přinesli pár vteřin před povelem „Go“. Mark se do toho opřel opravdu pořádně a dojel si pro solidní 15. místo. A jak se na širokých Londýnských ulicích dařilo jezdcům BMM? • TOB1DA – Tour of Britain Media Pack Content
TOB1DA – Tour of Britain media pack content News release (general) DUO GEAR UP FOR TOUR OF BRITAIN CHALLENGE TO ASSIST BRITISH CYCLING TALENT A business leader and world record holder will be the first riders to complete this year’s OVO Energy Tour of Britain, as they take on the route one day ahead of the elite professionals in a bid to raise £50,000 for the future of the sport. Phil Jones, managing director of Brother UK, and James Golding, holder of the world record for the furthest distance cycled in seven days, are cycling the 1,136km route to raise money for the Dave Rayner Fund, a trust set up to help promising riders fulfil their potential as professional cyclists. Departing from Pembrey Park at 9am on Saturday 1st September, the pair will ride the first seven stages of the route over consecutive days, before completing the final stage in London on Sunday 9th September – the same day the elite cyclists will cross the finish line. Phil Jones, pioneer of the fundraising project, said: “The recent Tour de France victory of Geraint Thomas has helped to shine a spotlight on cycling and show people across the country what talent we have here in the UK. “What’s not always recognised is how challenging it is to become a professional in the sport, particularly for those who don’t have the financial backing or are not part of the elite programme of British Cycling backed by Sport England. The Dave Rayner Fund helps to overcome this by providing promising cyclists with the funding they need to make it professionally, helping to ensure British cycling continues to thrive outside of the Olympic programme.

  • 1990 at the AGM the Assembled Multitude Were Informed That Frank
1990 At the AGM the assembled multitude were informed that Frank Fischer, Timekeeper and Handicapper and our longest serving second claim member (he is actually a Kentish Wheeler) had offered to donate a perpetual trophy for the Ladies Open BAR. This was the Donovan 12-hour Trophy that Frank won for three consecutive 12-hour wins. However as the Kentish Whs are no longer a racing club he has presented the Trophy to us. The Trophy is now to be called the Fischer-Donovan Cup. The other earth shattering moment was when both Keith Butler and Alan Bristow were elected Vice-Presidents of the Club. They have been members since 1953 and 1954 respectively. Keith was a top class amateur winning the National Road Race Championship before going to Belgium and racing professionally for 4 years. He then won the Professional Road Race Championship and was in the Great Britain team supporting Tom Simpson when he won the World Championship. He has served on the BCF Racing Committee and as a GB and Centre of Excellence Team Manager. In 1983 he formed the Surrey Cycle Racing League. He has had many posts on the Paragon Committee including Runs Secretary, Road Race Secretary and now General Secretary. Alan started his racing career in the same event as Keith – the Kentish Wheelers Novices of 1956. He was moderately successful but has always been a member of the Paragon and as served on the Committee for many years and in many posts including Treasurer and Time Trials secretary. The VTTA (Surrey/Sussex) Group published their list of Records and the names of Harry Featherstone and Jack Platts are on many pages.

With renewed confidence, the veteran Brit returned to his favored terrain and rode with trademark consistency in the spring classics, finishing 13th at the Tour of Flanders and 15th at Paris-Roubaix in the season’s most grueling one-day races. He finished off the season strongly, with third overall at the Tour of Denmark and second in a stage at the Vuelta a España (despite a nasty crash midway through the Spanish tour), followed by third overall at Circuit Franco-Belge and fourth at Paris-Bourges.

CC/08/82 Death of Councillor Neil Trafford The Lord Mayor formally recorded the sudden and tragic death of Councillor Neil Trafford as a result of a road traffic accident on Sunday 23 rd November. The Council recalled that Neil had served as Liberal Democrat Councillor for the Barlow Moor and Didsbury West Wards since 2003. He was an active Committee member and an acccomplished political campaigner across the North West of England. The Lord Mayor said that the generous tributes paid to him in public forums and numerous websites in recent days was perhaps the clearest testimony to the very high regard in which he was held in many different fields of activity. In a short life she said that he had clearly achieved much and members were left to wonder what more he might have contributed in the future.
