Revised May 2004 Creating Files for Use in Preps

In order for Preps to correctly process documents created in Adobe® FrameMaker® 6.0, you must save the FrameMaker documents as PostScript® files. You can create two types of PostScript files from FrameMaker 6.0 documents: • Color composite files • Pre-separated files The type of PostScript file you create depends on the elements in the FrameMaker document. We recommend that, whenever possible, you create color composite files. However, if the documents contain multiple types of elements, you must find a common file type that supports all those elements. For example, if the document contains CMYK and spot colors, you must create a pre-separated PostScript file. The following table indicates the types of PostScript files you can create from FrameMaker 5.0.1 documents.
